Nice customer service- Lowrance really went above what they were required to do.

Way to go Roger. Now you don't even need the Broadband Sounder since it's already built into the HDS-8.

Very cool deal from Lowrance!!! So when are we going fishing?? Wink

My understanding is that the broadband sonar is an add on to the regular sonar that can be standard in the HDS-8. There are different HDS-8 models, and not all have the sonar as part of the display.

That's true - however, the person on the phone indicated that the unit they would send had the integrated sonar and an included transducer. I have to assume she was correct when she said. The HDS-8M is just the GPS, the HDS-8 is the GSP and sounder combined.

I forgot that they mentioned the transducer. So yeah, you should get the unit with the sounder in it- but the Broadband Sounder upgrade is still seperate, right?

It's my understanding that the built in sounder in the HDS units IS the same as the broadband sounder unit that was an add-on to previous units. See Lowrance Announces HDS High-Definition Multifunction Chartplotter with Built-in Broadband Sounder. The STRUCTURE Scan is an add-on to the HDS units. At least that's what I think is correct. I have to admit the Lowrance literature and website is a little opaque to me.

Hope this kind of service continues to spread through the industry. I know my allegiance to Garmin went way up when they replaced my four year old 276C with a brand new unit when I couldn't get it to update and they couldn't either.
