Roger on Fishtales found a neat plate that sits on the burner and defuses the flame....seems to help allot....
My son offered to give me one of those Rectangular West Marine units...and I may do that...I really, really hate to ruin a good steak with that flame thrower....

Joel,
I seem to remember that you bought one at Boaters World in Channel Islands last year.
They had them at the store "free" with purchase of some other cooker. I think they sold it for $20? They were in a plain brown box on the shelf behind the cooker.
I also saw a few of them at BW in Santa Barbara.
I did not see them in the catalog.

When I use mine, it is mounted on the pulpit rail. I sit on the bow while the grill is in use. When I am finished I hand the food through the center window and shut the grill off to cool. I dismount it and store it under the aft seat.

I want as much distance as possible between a grill flame and 40 gallons of gas!
