Two Lucky Fish had about 9 months worth of weather and grime all over...but not anymore! I spent several hours scrubbing this morning. And just as I got to the wax part ("do not apply in direct sunlight"), the sun came out! I needed lunch anyway, so I took a break.
She ain't perfect, but at least I won't be ashamed to show her in public.
See you all tomorrow! _________________ Timothy R. R. Flanagan |

I am going to miss this gathering also. I have some acreage SW of Olympia next to Capitol Forest and gave a permit to a friend for some Maple on it. The access to it is through a neighbors property and they locked the gate, so I will have to go there in the morning and cut the lock, then will have to deal with them that afternoon. I was told I would have trouble with them when I bought the property.
It will be too nice of a weekend not to go out in the boat. Terri is not feeling too well, so I will get Ben Toland and we will go out Saturday. May make it as far north as Seattle.

Dave,
We will miss seeing you at FH. C-Dawg and Dreamer are getting a pretty early start. We should depart John Wayne Marina about 0800. Or as they say in the Air Force, Mickey's big hand is on the twelve and his little hand is on the eight.
See you all there. _________________ Roger

I'm jealous as hell as I started my work day today around 5:30 AM and finished at around 7PM. The patio is done, and I'm 1/2 through the fencing. Tomorrow, I finish the fence, put down some sod and plant some plants. After this weekend, I'll be able to boat again. Pat, Timflan - give me the play-by-play....! _________________ Roger on Meant to be |

Just touched down at home, (thanks to my private pilot, Cordell) and I must say that that was the most awesome C-Brat gathering that I have even been to. Pictures and more information later, but first, a huge thank you to Patti and Barry for doing such a super job. You two are the best!
Thank you
And thanks to all the C-Brats who made this weekend absolutely fabulous!

In the picture that Pat posted, how come all the C-Dorys have tall masts?
Also a big thank you to Barry and Patti. You two did a great job on the organization of the weekend and were always there as the Brats came in. On top of that, Barry did 10 USCG Aux vessel exams with me.
Great week-end, and Kate was there too!!!! And Nikko the house/boat kitty. _________________ David and Kate

The crew of Cast Away arrived safely home after a very memorable Friday Harbor C-Brat gathering. After fueling ($4.39/gal) and departing Friday Harbor Marina the crossing of Rosario Strait via Thatcher Pass at about 12:35p was very comfortable with about a 1' chop and mild SW winds...
Patti and Barry many many thanks for organizing this event, you've got to have huge pull with the weather gods for getting the sunny skies and 75 degree weather here in Washington!

kathleen and I had a great time and thank the organizers, father neptune for his spoken word and mother earth for providing us all such great weather. After packing up the Capital Sea this morning in Dear harbor we ran in to Friday Harbor to fuel up, $$$ ouch, and then ran to Roach Harbor for brunch prior to our adventure around the outside of San Juan, in search of orca. NO luck on the orca, but we did find an exciting mix of ocean swells and tidal rip just North of Lime Kiln which generated rollers at window hight for a few miles. Ah, that just made the glass like water all the way back to Edmonds all the more enjoyable. A trusty boat this C-dory is, and the rough seas gave me a chance to see just how the boat would preform with four inside and loaded with gear. The 4th forward facing seat was tested and voted secure and convertible by each of my crew and the Honda 90 allowed us to clock 34+ SOG in slack smooth conditions (we tended to run her between 4,500 and 5,000 most of the time though) .
Look forward to seeing all of you along the way _________________ Capn Steve & 1st Mate Kath

WOW. What a weekend. Being our first gathering, we couldn't have been more impressed with the hospitality and gregariousness of the entire group. We were made to feel like we'd been part of the group for years.
A special thanks to Roger and Janet for opening their beautiful home to us. _________________ Rick & Shirley

Thank you Barry and Patti for organizing such a great event!
My family had a fantastic time. Dominic and Griffin had an absolute blast and I'm sure the shrimp and spider/decorator crabs are resting well now that they aren't being netted every half an hour by the kids.
Thank you to everyone else who so kindly accepted Pingu into the group. I also think I'm just going to adopt Capital Sea Steve's explanation of the name as, "The sound it makes when you hit it!"
Pat, I too took the exact same picture as you and I wanted to publicly thank you for enlightening me to the fact that "Pingu" is Inuit for "Recycled beer can."
God was smiling on this CBGT with the good weather, the great potluck and the tremendous camaraderie. _________________ -Sarge

Wow! What a great weekend! Thanks Barry and Patti. You've raised the bar once again. We were glad to hear that everyone got home safely.
It's a little lonely on the dock at FH tonight. Wood Duck, Dreamer, Sea Pal, JC Lately and InCahoots are settled in for the night. The wind has died down and the food at Maloula was fantastic.
If any one else is still out, we'll be in Victoria Mon-Tue. From there, who knows, maybe Ganges. Give us a shout on 68. |
