Greetings All--Ditto Pandy Girl's sentiments. We had a great time! Very much enjoyed having Dick & Suzanne aboard for the Pokie Run (Suzanne's term--we had to get fuel in Oriental and ran dead last until we cut Half Pint's wake coming out of Turnagain Bay and our Honda90 sank their Merc75).
Good trip home. Got gas in Oriental (the Puertorican dockmaster can actually say "Ojos Verdes"! We had originally planned to return Monday, but Cassie was called to a meeting of her consulting group (new client). To make a little more room I left my NtM & LNM notebook at home. With the change in plans I failed to redo the research and we ran into an ICW closure until 1700 at Morehead City for a sailboat race.
With the fantastic weather forecast Sunday morning, I suggested a return across Onslow Bay, but Cassie was reticent of an ocean voyage. I told her it would be like the Chesapeake, just no land on the port side. The ICW closure sealed the deal, after CG Sector NC read us the LNM re Marine Corp activity in the Restricted Zone (helos, no live firing), we cruised on down at +/- 15 kts very comfortably and transited New Topsail Inlet at 1815. Looking FWD to next year. Bill & Cassie Woodhouse

Sounds like everyone had a great time in Oriental. Sorry we didn't get to the gathering, but the gods of all things mechanical were against this trip. Since the 8 hp kicker wouldn't run, I decided to pull the 5 hp off the skiff I keep tied up in my backyard and put that kicker on the C-Dory. I launched the skiff and fired the engine up and just like the 8 hp it ran for a minute and died. So, I guess I must have gotten some bad fuel, since I use identical portable tanks for both engines.

Since I wasn't going to make it by water, I decided to get my Miata out of the garage for the cruise down to Oriental. I put the top down, but the drivers side electric window was in the up position and would not go down. I checked the fuse and it was OK and the passengers window works normally, so I don't know what the problem could be. By this time I figured it would be better to stay at home.

Anyway, I owe someone for two t-shirts. Can I forward the money for the shirts, plus the postage and get them mailed to me?

Steve

Boats brought including Gene and Al Miller 17
C-Dory owners w/o boats 4
No Shows 3
Prospective buyers 4

We think that we had around 60 that participated which included the
wannabe's, photographers and carolina current members. We are pleased with
the turn-out! Not bad for our first time. Keep in touch.

Carrie

Carrie & Tracy,

Thanks for such a wonderful gathering! Everyone in my LARGE party had a great time!

It was good to see familiar faces from the Chesapeake, and it was good to make some new friends.

For those who do not know the story, I trailered my C-Dory 475 miles only to find out the Mighty Honda would not start. Bummer.

Gene (Mobile East Marine) worked on it Friday evening when he was supposed to be at the gathering. To top that off he came to my condo and put the Honda back together on Sunday. How's that for dealer support?

In any case I drove to the gathering, ate too much and laughed too hard.

Thanks again,

Al

Karen and I would like to thank Carrie and Gene and Tracy and Larry for all their hard work that made the weekend such an enjoyable experience for us. As relatively inexperienced C-Dory cruisers, it was a wonderful way to meet knowledgable and pleasant people who really know how to enjoy their boats and life in general. Everything about the gathering, from the boats, the marina, the food, and the group cruise (AKA Poker Run) was well planned and executed. We are really looking forward to next year! Thanks again, Ron and Karen, C-Dory 19 Sojourn II

Sounds like a great time was had by all! Hope all of you look at the possiblilty of coming to Langford Bay in the Chesapeake next June! My place is about 6 hours north of the Norfolk Area, we went to Albemarle Sound a few years ago, took two days!

Just wanted to let everyone know that we had a great time at the "1st Annual NC Gathering". We felt really naked without our C-Dory but it was fun seeing everyone else and getting a grand ride on the 25 Tom Cat for the Poker Run. That was a lot of fun and was really surprised to win!!!!!
Next year we hope everyone will check into coming up to the Chesapeake for our 4th gathering. Thinking of having our own poker run. That was fun.

A big thank you to Carrie, Gene, Tracy and Larry. Great job!

Doug & Anne

Dragonfly: Cool link...lots of neat stuff and resources.

Sorry I was not able to make this. I will keep my eyes open next year for the dates...unless they have been set on the docks already...and if so, please let me know.

Jim & Sandy: Glad you two are still gathering hoping. We sure enjoyed you last fall on the Cumberland River. Yall come on back down this year in Nov and drag some others down with you. Should be another nice trip, but a bit slower and a bit more dock/anchor time for just fun and friendship.

Thanks Byrdman,
We enjoyed the River Cruise this spring,
C-Brats this sounds like a good invite,
for the C-Dory owners that live on the East Coast of NC, VA or PA.
There is a lot of great boating (Beautiful sights) on the Rivers of Tenn.
Dragonfly tell others down your way about this one in Tenn.
Thanks Jim

Glad everyone had a good time.. We don't have dates set for next year yet. I'll do my best to let everyone know well in advance. Take care, Tracy
