Thanks to Chris on Rana Verde for hosting this event again. We had a great visit with fellow Brats and a wonderful time on the lake. The weather was perfect and the fishing is the best we have had there.
We pulled out of the water today and got on the road by 1:00 pm. We should be home in a few days and I will try to post some photos from the MacBook to our album.

Diana and I, along with George and Janice of Sea Quest left the lake today. We wanted to spend a few more days, but the forecast was for winds gusting above 50mph. Discretion, the better part of valor.

We had a great time, and truly enjoyed meeting many of the folks that we have corresponded with through the CBrats. A special thanks to Chris for taking on the duties of chief cat herder. If memory serves me correctly, there were 14 boats that we encountered and spoke with. The last being Eric and Susan on E Ticket when we were in Moki Canyon.

Hope to be home around Sunday.

Kind Regards to All,

Steve

A couple of my favorite shots... I have not had an opportunity to review them all, but this one (color and monochrome) of the kiva at Defiance House in Forgotten Canyon caught me... Hand held and available light.

Great shots, Steve - caught the mystic ambiance of the kiva. Thanks for sharing.

Just got back yesterday from Lake Powell--1946 mile round trip from Missoula. Absolutely fabulous--8 days crusing was not nearly enough. Was not able to make either C Brat get-to-gether, but did manage to meet and talk to several C-Brats. Ran into Pat Anderson at Dangling Rope Marina--and what kind of beer were you buying Pat? We watched See Saw almost get rolled by the Rainbow bridge sightseeing boat. Talked to Lyle later at the Stateline ramp when we pulled out and I guess Lyle and his wife had a very exciting ride when they caught the wake broadside--tough little boat! In Oak Canyon we chatted with George from Oregon in his Hobie Mirage kayak--quite a fishing machine. Lake Powell will definitely be on my calendar for next year.

I'm pleading the Fifth Amendment on that one! Well, you see...I really could not deal with disposing of Snoqualmie 22 oz bottles on the lake...ah, hell, you know, it was GD Utah 3.2% Budweiser, it was wet, cold and fizzy (and it was ALL Dangling Rope Marina store had). Will I be ex-communicated?

What happened to summer? We are still wandering homeward and had great weather until today. Yesterday we were driving in 85 deg weather and this morning we had 34 deg with mixed rain and snow! Makes me want to turn around and head south again. We had a wonderful time at Lake Powell and many thanks to Chris-great job as usual.

Bill and I stumbled on some ancient art that after careful consideration, we determined it to be of the famous "Meat Eating Mastodon" first discovered by Elmo Stevenson, President of Southern Oregon College in the 1960's. Bill is explaining the significance of the find, and all are rapt in their attention, as evidenced by Chris in the left of the photo.

A little different perspective on Powell.

I just returned home this afternoon. All I can say is "Wow"!

Maybe more tomorrow, after a good nights sleep. Wink

Robbi, he is looking puzzled because he kept eating that delicious looking fly on the surface, and then getting gently slipped back in the water!

As the "newbies," the "minimalists," we want to thank everyone who helped us on the Lake Powell trip--especially Chris, the leader, and Bill and El, the gurus! It was a wonderful experience!
We stayed out 15 nights on See-Saw , the only 16-footer in the group. It was the first time we'd slept aboard and our first time on the water on Powell. We launched at Stateline on Sept. 11 and took out on Sept. 26. We covered 504 miles on the water and averaged 9 mpg.
We first met John in the Wahweap marina and then went out with Chris, Robbi, Bob, and Betsy on Sept. 17, and we took off again on our own on Sept. 22. (We just got back to Amarillo yesterday, Sept. 30.)
I think we saw (and/or visited with the owners of) 19 C-Dories, including our own. We were asked to send a list of those.
The ones we saw, besides our own See-Saw, were John on No-Name, Chris on Rana Verde, Bob and Betsy on Sea Pal, Bill and El on Halcyon, Pat and Patty on Daydream, Ken and Jane on CAVU, Jeff on Bossa Nova, Jim and Laurie on Laurna Jo, Brent and Dixie on Discovery, Russ and Toni on Traveler, Rick and Jan on Sea Lark, Hans and Marles on Rigi, Tom and Nancy on Jeanie P, Steve and Diana on Constant Craving, George and Jan on Sea Quest, Ken and Lynn on Wood Duck, and John on Grizzly. We also saw Frequent Sea in the Wahweap marina, but didn't meet the new owner. And Robbi of C-Run was with us, without either of her C-Dories, and Tex and Sharon, though they have a small houseboat, the Becky Thatcher, and are considering a C-Dory, and Rob and Paige (who like hanging out with C-Brats) on their Ranger tug named Machete Bettie.
It was an awesome trip, and we learned so much and got to know so many great folks that we'll never forget Lake Powell '09!
(We'll post a few pictures soon.)

Lyle and Janda, add Jody on Voyager to your list. Glad to hear you made it home OK. We hope all the C-Brats get home safe and sound

Thanks again to Chris for herding the C-Brats. Chris is maybe still on the lake. He was off until 10/11.
