As soon as I write this and sign off, I'll be on my way to the SBS and will see some of you there and a pod of you at the hotel this evening.

For those of you on the road or in the air, drive/fly safely!

Before I leave for the show I should post this list of fishing classes that will be at the show. I have heard many of these folks give classes before and Ron Garner is a good freind and pres of The Edmonds chapter of PSA. This guy gets more 100 plus lbs halibut in Washington then anyone I know. Last year he had 6 100plus fish to the boat. One was 175 I think. Ron is a rgreat guy. Any way heres the link to the list.

We're here, settled into Room 107 at Larkspur Landing! Met by the greeting committee, got our name badges from Roger, meatballs are heating up in the crockpot for the potluck, and Patty is pouring the drinks! The keg is in the back of the car for the factory party. All is good!

I didn't hoist a brew for you but I did consume a glass of wine for you. Several of us (Seawolf Joe, Pat, myself and others) had a nice conversation about you. It seems each one of us knows a different subset of your stories. So while you weren't personally there, some of your stories still made it. Take care Dusty, I hope to make it up to Whidbey sometime next month to visit.

Dusty, we sure miss you here! We will probably be bringing Daydream up to Cornet Bay for some troubleshooing on the Raymarine inputs (I was in the middle of a conversation with Les about it when Verizon rudely dropped the signal, when I called back, the message said "This number has a mailbox that has not been set up yet"). We shall hoist a brew to you and leave hoisting the fancy schmancy wine to Roger!

We did have a wonderful CBC potluck last night though!

It looks like I won't make it either. I was going to come to the factory, with little Arwen in tow. But Julia's taken a turn for the worse, so I'm going to stick at home today.

Thanks guys! "please don't talk about me when I'm gone" or so the song sez. And Roger, if you think my war stories are way out in left field -- wait until you hear some of my fish tales!!

Hated to miss the fun gathering, but maybe next time.

Well, the Friday night potluck at Larkspur Landing, the boat show visit at Qwest Event Center and the party at the C-Dory factory are now in the bag! Nothing left but breakfast and warm goodbyes! A huge thanks to Roger Johnson for organizing again, thanks to Roger Clark for the name badges for everyone, and thanks to Rich Finlay and the crew at C-Dory for another great factory party! It was a Mexican theme this year, and the keg of Haystack Hefeweizen was a pretty darn good match if I say so myself. Rich was MC for the drawing, and there was a great array of wonderful prizes. Oh, well, I guess I won my prize at the annual "garage sale" and the gift from Peter Jamero of one of his rod holders. Roger from Idaho - my offer for the Cobb you won is now: $50, David gives you a custom helm hub, AND I wear the Potato Commission pin every day for a year! Please, don't make me beg!

I posted my observations on the R-29 previously and I can imagine it must have been the "buzz boat" at the SBS. The C-Dorys were looking good, especially the Tomcat 255. We were able to resist buying anything this year though, and our purchase of the CD25 in 2005 is looking better and better. We saw a nice presentation by Clyde Ford from Bellingham on his Charlie Noble thriller Precious Cargo (an elderly couple starting on their last cruise up the Inside Passage pulls up a dead body in Eagle Harbor, Cypress Island, when they weigh anchor). David got an autographed copy and we got an autographed bookmark, since we had already read it! We didn't make it out to Lake Union for the Boats Afloat part this year, above our pay grade anyway.

I didn't bring a camera, but I saw a lot of folks taking photos, look forward to seeing those pix! If you didn't come this year, you REALLY should plan on this one next year!

Good morning Pat,

Thanks for posting your observations of the factory gathering. We'll be looking forward to more posts and photos from those who attended. There was a mini-C-Brat gathering at our place last night, with the crews of Discovery and Wild Blue. Of course, talk turned to the factory gathering, with all 4 of us saying, "One of these years..."

Hope business is lively for C-Dory and Ranger with the buzz of the boat shows.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

We could only manage the SBS for a period on Friday but it was good midwinter boost to meet up with some good friends. Sorry for those that we missed and really sorry we could not get to the CBGT that night. Anyway we hoisted a glass in memory of good times past and those yet to come.

We took a good look at the R-29 and Kudos to Ranger, it stood up very well against the Nordic 26 across the aisle!! However, I would be scared to death to drill the first hole in all that pretty trim!

C-Dory spread was impressive and well laid out.

Did any of you check out the Island Packet SP Cruiser ? WOW Shocked . OK, it's nearly 500BU's but what a way to go with good sailing capability backed up by 110Hp and 200+ gallon fuel capacity.
Oh well, keep on buying the lottery tickets.

Merv

Tom, I saw Ron Garner yesterday. He was very good. Remember telling me about the West bathymetric charts for Puget Sound (Raymarine)? I never got one, but the Navionics rep gave me one yesterday, what a nice guy. As I posted elsewhere the West charts are now out for the iPhone ($50). It plots your boat on the chart, a great backup system.

Thanks for the postings. Sure missed the trip this year, but more so, I missed seeing my C-Brat friends. Think I made the last 4 or 5 years...and like some others, I do look forward to seeing some of the pics being posted. Dusty, Charlie, Joe and the Thursday lunch crew...man, I sure missed a fine time I am sure. Roger/SENSEI, I enjoyed our quick chat and know that I was there in spirit.
