The gun thread got me thinking...I know, I know, that's dangerous.

Aside from boating and fishing, what kind of stuff do you folks like to do? I know there are some beer lovers out there with talk of micro brews...make mine a Guiness! How about music? Anyone play an instrument? Restore old cars? Collect stuff? Let's have it. This could be quite interesting. No one has talked about this stuff, at least not that I remember.

We love Irish music. I play the bodhran, an Irish drum. Donna plays guitar and is learning the penny whistle. Of course, there's gun fun, too. We both love to be in the field and love to hunt. I've had 3 Harleys, and I miss the travel and gatherings a lot. Someday we'll get another one, but have to get that CD first, so it will be a lonnnggg way off.

How about it?

Rick

This could be interesting, I used to do a fair bit of skiing, X-C and downhill, but no more. Anymore it's work, putter about the house & garage and rag on the kid to get a job.

Work to keep my son in college and telemark/cross country ski. Hope to combine both with a boat trip in the next couple of months.

I enjoy being Mr. Mom to my 1.5 year old daughter Lili. On around May 24 the fun will double with a new son arriving. I also enjoy piloting Boeing 767's and 757's to the Hawaiian Islands and the East Coast a few times a month.

I always say, I have tried just about everything at least once and then, if it is fun, find a way to get paid doing it. I enjoy the woods/forest, own a little bit of them. Enjoy animals, have a few of them. Enjoy farming/ranching. Own a small one.

Here we are on our semi-annual cattle roundup, last month. These animals belong to a friend that has a ranch on the Dalles Mountains.
Enjoy Computers, have a few of them. I guess I am lucky because I get paid doing what I enjoy. Haven’t had to take a vacation since 1978 because my whole life is like one long vacation. Some things I enjoy, I don’t do anymore. Use to fly and race cars, don’t do that anymore. Got to figure out how to get paid for cruising on my C-Dory.

Rick; you have impeccable taste in beer. Guinness is the beer I drink. There three things I do everyday to stay healthy.
1. Drink at least one cup of good coffee every morning.
2. Eat at least one small square of dark chocolate around noon.
3. Drink at least one glass of Guinness in the evening.
I wasn’t aware there was any kind of music beside Country Western.

Like B~C we've had to give up skiing.

We used to race sailboats for 30 years with more intensity than was probably good for our health.

We love to "camp" in the mountains around Northern California, as long as we can do it in a 38 foot motorhome.

My wife is an avid "Red Hat Society" member, and belongs to several local social groups as well.

I love to think, think, and re-think how do solve any electrical / mechanical design problem available. Idea

Fishing has always been a major hobby for me. More or less grew up on Shasta Lake. Now I'm home to stay.

We also rag on the kid about getting a job, life, future, etc.

De Ja Vu' B~C! Smile

Joe.

I like wrenching on my Harley, my wife and I cook a variety of foods and enjoy cooking "themes".

The last few years because I am gone so much, I have increasingly enjoyed gardening. Its enjoyable to see things you have planted grow and we are getting pretty good at selecting indigenous plants and incorporating them into our own quasi-English garden.

Finally, I just like adventure and experiencing things...I still dont know what I want to be when I grow up!

You mean there is something to life other than Boating, Fishing, and Work? Sheesh! I wish I had the time to take part in the first two!

Seriously though... I used to spend a lot of time racing cars... Slot cars that is. Much less expensive that the full size cars! I also love to take pictures and Years ago I used to teach Skiing at Crystal Mtn. I do miss that but I need to get back in shape before I try it again. Every now and then I fire up the old Ham Station and look for some QSL.

In our younger years, Myrna and I used to paddle a canoe all over the wilds of northern Ontario; we even paddled to Hudson Bay once, just the two of us! But that was then ......

Now food and wine are a big part of our lives. I love, and Myrna tolerates, bluegrass music. We've made many trips to Kentucky for a big annual event as well as to numerous other festivals. I've picked banjo and guitar almost since I's a baby. I've even made a couple banjos, such that I now have one in almost every corner of the house.

But still, there's nothing like that C-Dory, and again, we can't wait for spring.

Hobbies? Travel, reading, camping, canoeing (we have also canoed in the Canadian north, Moose), white-water rafting, nature studies and on and on. We simply have a lot of curiosity about almost anything. Cruising is a perfect lifestyle for us, since we read on windy days, love to watch critters, and we're traveling by definition. Used to do long-distance hiking but find it a lot easier to travel within a cabin and with two engines to push us along.

Oh -- and another 'hobby' is studying investing. Maybe, this is a necessity rather than a hobby. Since we quit our jobs some of our income comes from our investments -- now understand that we were teachers who quit early, so we're not talking like Bill Gates might about investing. Anyway, El and I have had a friendly competition for many years with our IRA's -- and she, the risk taker, is almost always ahead of me so if you want investment advice, talk to El.

I also work alot to pay for fishing and boating, and also used to spend alot of time doing wintersports such as telemarking and snowboarding, I actually worked at a ski area ( snowbird) in utah for three years. I also taught Kung fu for three and a half years, and besides fishing/boating and spending time with the wife and kids thats what I do mostly these days. Proabably at least four- five nights a week anywhere from one to four hours depending on what going on where I train. Hard work but very rewarding.

We've been avid RV'ers for years and will be again only this time towing the Jenny B along. Reading, on line Scrabble, 'Puters, gardening. Spouse is very much involved with combining science and spirituality in every day life.
