This will kick off the discussion about the 2009 Anacortes CBGT. As with last year, slips will be available at Cap Sante. As you sign up I will let the harbormaster know how many boats to expect. They can always accommodate, they say, and I have found that to be true.
At last year's Festival one of the activities was the Quick and Dirty boat building competition. We have a lot of "handy" Brats -- maybe enough to enter the competition?

Warren, we are going to try, boat, drive or walk if we have to. I am doing a serious re-adjustment of priorities this year.

Warren,Tee Ten will be attending Friday Harbor, hanging around for the week between the Anacortes CBGT. I would like to sign up for Anacortes but I am unable to find the sign up sheet. We need a slip for that weekend. In fact I would like to launch at this Marina on the morning of the 15 of May, park the truck for the week. Can you advise me?
Thanks |

Steve,
There is a signup in the same place as the Friday Harbor signup (Event Signups). Maybe you are already signed up?
You should call the Cap Sante Boat Haven Marina and tell them you are coming as part of the C-Brats group. They know about us. (360) 293-0694.
Launching at Cap Sante is by sling. Another option is for me to meet you (if you are by yourself) and help you launch at Washington Park and then drive your truck down to the marina (5 miles maybe). The marina has a large parking lot, however it is the weekend of the Waterfront Festival so space may be at a premium. You are welcome to park your trailer at my house, if necessary. Because you are coming early, I suspect you will not have a parking problem.
Check your dates. The FH CBGT is the week BEFORE the Anacortes CBGT, which starts the 15th.
Looking forward to seeing you and Sydney again!

We've got less than a month before the Anacortes CBGT and I have information and a few questions for those attending (and if you have not yet signed up officially (via the Event Signups link at the top of each page) please do, so I know you're coming.)
1. Schedule. We'll meet at Gere-A-Deli for dinner at 6:30 Friday night. Saturday day is the Waterfront Festival (more on this below) and Saturday night is the potluck at the Anacortes Yacht Club. Sunday morning, breakfast, also at the Yacht Club (more on this below also.)
2. Friday night dinner. Any interest in the new Thai restaurant, pizza, etc. or should we stick with the Gere-A-Deli?
2. Waterfront Festival. In addition to just attending the festival, there are two opportunities for participation for us as a group. First, the Anacortes Yacht Club, for several years, has been giving free boat rides to festival-goers. I've done it for the last two years and it is a lot of fun. You get to meet all kinds of people, many of whom rarely get a chance to go out on a boat. Last year I took out a family in which the husband worked at the salmon farm nearby. We went to the farm and had an impromptu guided tour. The Yacht Club is excited to to have us participate also. Please post if you are interested in doing this Saturday and/or Sunday.
Second, there is a boatbuilding contest Saturday in which teams put together a boat using the same materials. More details HERE. Please post if interested in putting a team together to compete.
3. Sunday breakfast. Last year we were treated quite rudely by the folks at Island Cafe when we showed up as a group. This year I am tentatively planning a pancake breakfast Sunday morning at the Yacht Club, depending. One, please post if you are not going to be there for Sunday breakfast, and two, will you be available to help clean up the YC as it has to be ready at noon for a party for Waterfront Festival volunteers. If there is insufficient interest in the Sunday pancake breakfast we can get breakfast on our own.
As you can see, many questions, and not very many answers yet. Please help me out with feedback on the above!
Thanks,
Warren |

I went ahead and made a dinner reservation for Gere-A-Deli on Friday at 6:30. We will order from their dinner (not deli) menu, as we did last year.
Please provide feedback on the Waterfront Festival boat-building contest, boat rides and the Sunday breakfast.
Thanks,

I just returned from a meeting with the folks at Cap Sante and have good news to report.
I recently learned that many of you were unhappy with the accommodations (slip assignments) for last year's Anacortes CBGT. I discussed this with the marina staff and learned that the reason why we were scattered all over the marina was (1) even though I had compiled a list of those coming, with addresses, phone numbers, etc., etc., the (now former) employee did not enter the info into the computer; and (2) last year the marina policy was to assign slips appropriate to the size of the boat.
That has changed! The new policy is to keep groups together, so as a result we are all to be together near the main office, on the big new docks, in slips big enough for two or three C-Dory boats. Actually, she wanted to assign two boats per slip but decided against it when she realized there is only one power station per slip. When you arrive, they should be expecting you, as they have a list with boat name, owners' name, boat length and arrival date. Kudos to Cap Sante Boat Haven for their willingness to improve their service to groups such as ours!
We are going to be a small group of 8 boats this year but I am sure there is room for more if the new arrangements attract more boats. Someone suggested that I host the next Anacortes CBGT during the Art Festival, which is the last weekend in August. Marina staff told me that was the absolute busiest weekend of the year and they do not taking group reservations for that weekend. So we will see how it goes this year and get feedback on whether we should continue the Anacortes CBGT, particularly since it is so close to the wildly popular Friday Harbor CBGT.
Some details and calls for assistance:
Dinner Friday at the Gere-A-Deli, 6:30.
I would like some help with the Saturday continental breakfast. Any volunteers? I especially need a coffee urn. I can bring a small table down.
Dinner Saturday is potluck at the Anacortes Yacht Club.
Breakfast Sunday will be ad hoc groups formed as participants desire.
Thanks for your patience as these details were worked out. Looking forward to seeing you in Friday Harbor and in Anacortes!

Warren,
By the sign-up sheet, it seems all the attendees should have name tags from Friday Harbor or the SBS. If not, and they want one, let me know before Thursday night this week 5/7 and I'll make some up. Roger |

Thanks, Roger.
Everyone -- due to time constraints I suggest you contact Roger directly if you want a name tag!

Have been in Seattle for the last weekend, (sorry -- family obligations), but the weather was fantastic. Hope everyone is safe and (except for Russ & Toni ) on their way home. (See Sportner thread on Vacations.) We will be looking for some photos on the CBGT activities soon.

Warren & Lori,
Many thanks for putting together the 2nd Anacortes CBGT.
Due to a very restricted schedule we were only able to stop and visit with everyone Saturday evening. There was a great potluck which was very much appreciated. Thanks for sharing.
Sincerely,
Ruth & Joe
