OK, looking at a Road Atlas (not generally favored for navigation, I know), it looks like it would be a fairly short trip to Sequim from a launch in Everett - shorter than the drive and a heck of lot more fun...So, is anybody planning to boat to Sequim from some place farther away than Port Angeles? Particularly from Everett? Safety in numbers? Say a mid-Friday afternoon launch, between 3 - 4 pm or so? _________________

We're planning to cruise up to Sequim from Sandy Hook (South Whidbey), but want to start early Friday morning. Anyone else heading up from Everett/Edmonds/Mukilteo around then? We'd love to cruise with company too!

I am planning to cruise from Twin Bridges early Friday morning if weather permits. Is there anyone heading to Sequim from Anacortes and would like to travel together? Brock, I promise I will not talk politics or bang on any tables.

Fred, I should hope not. It was reported that Mr. Fisherman was surprised to find you such a fickle mixture of fuss and fury. I mean, considering you're so well-mannered on the Brat Channel.
Still, we'll be monitoring your behavior carefully. |

Say, does anyone remember that guy from Arlington; loves red, fights fires, nice family, wears life jacket on land, carries safety manual in back pocket of Levis, tank top in winter. An abstemious sort.
I wonder if we'll hear from that guy again.

Howdy Catman,
I'm here! It looks like we'll be missing Sequim again.....major projects at home, Jessica's birthday weekend, High School homecoming, etc. "too many things, too little time" .
Thanks for thinking of me.....I'll be thinking of you all! _________________ Dave S.

Hey, DaveS., nice to hear from you. We'll miss you at Sequim, but I understand how life can sometimes interfere with play time.
Hey, are you up for a November meander along the river to Snohomish? |

Hey, Two Lucky Fish, I might be interested in cruising from Everett early Friday morning. Not sure, though. I'll have to see what the weather report says late next week. |

Hi Catman!
It would be a pleasure to cruise in the company of Bambina. Our departure is weather dependant as well - let's connect Thursday night and figure out what the winds & waves are doing.....

Sounds good, Mac. Two years ago Les Jr. wrote to tell me that if I didn't hit Admiralty Inlet at the right time I would be in for a rough time. Since I'm just little, I got scared. He's right, of course, that area is no place to disrespect. But the tide will be going out till about noon, and if we pass Port Townsend early enough we just might find smooth sailing. We can sneak west of Indian and Marrowstone Islands and go under the bridge. It's a fabulous cruise up there when the winds are mild.
If we do this I'd like to cruise with Pat and Patti, the folks first with this idea. But I'd feel safer with an early start from Everett. What do you other guys think? |

Yes, if we all say "please" real nicely? But hope we can find some other way out of the swamp than via Steamboat Slough and those low bridges!

I have located John Wayne marina using Mapquest. My question is, where is the park in relation to the marina? North?, south? east? I've got a good hunch it isn't west. And how far?

The red/green bouys in the chart below are at John Wayne Marina. The state park is south, north of the Schoolhouse Point - the state park ramp is marked on the chart.
The dock is hard to see on the chart, but it's just south of the ramp, near the first group of pilings. According to the GPS software, it's 1.75 statute miles from the John Wayne bouys to the dock.

Nice chart Bill. This last week I've been working on the southern tip of the bay where it says "RU". There's a small creek there called Jimmy Come Lately Creek and it's full of chum salmon. It's pretty amazing to watch these 6 to 15 lb. fish travel upstream in really shallow water. I watched a couple shoot upstream so fast, they would exit the water on the bank, do a couple of "doughnuts", a few "brodies" and somehow manage to find the water again. |
