Sorry to hear of your mother's passing -- she is in a better place. Mine will be 90 on Oct 10 and in decent health but you can tell she is planning her departure.

Warren,
Sorry to hear about your mother's passing. She showed courage and she raised a good son.

Warren,

So sorry. My thoughts and prayers are with you. We 90+ folks have a way of leaving and it's never easy on those who remain.
My personal plans are to prepare for my 100th -- fish, crab, shrimp, and enjoy my C-Dory friends. And above all I hope to leave with a smile -- and tubes and that stuff they insert at the hospital don't make me smile and I don't plan to let them do that. Bravo to your mom!!

Dusty (a.k.a. Les Lampman Sr.)

Warren and Lori,

Sorry to hear about your mother's passing. At least she was at home with family and had just seen her grandchildren.

Thinking of you both,

Warren and Lori,

We are sorry to hear of your loss. We have had a number of similar experiences with my father and Dee’s, several of close relatives and now Dee’s grandmother who is in hospice and will turn 98 this Saturday. My father passed while in hospice in our home he helped us build and we were grateful to have had him during his last days. Our thoughts are with you.

Warren and Lori,

Sorry to hear about your mother's passing, I know how hard that is, having lost both my parents over the years. They are still fondly remembered, and I know you will hold her dear for many years to come. Our prayers are for you and your family to have peace, comfort and courage.

Yesterday I went to get my hair cut and while there I asked Cheri to look above my left ear as I had felt something hard there for a few weeks, some skin flaking, a little oily feeling. She said she could see a piece of yellow plastic coming out from beneath my skin. I knew immediately that it was part of the internal device of my cochlear implant. I emailed Elyse, my audiologist about this and about 5 minutes later the phone rang. She told me this was a very serious situation and told me to get down to the UW ER ASAP. We dropped Ike off with Tom and Susan and got there about 8 PM. I had been told that everything would be set up to admit me overnight. Ha! We were in the ER for over 4 hours before they finally moved me up to my room and started me with an IV.

This morning I got the bad news from my surgeon. I have to stay in the hospital probably until Sunday or Monday. They are running antibiotics into me full-bore, and I will have surgery Friday or Saturday to repair the problem and hopefully move the internal device to another place where it will not be so close to my eyeglass temples (which may be part of the problem.) THEN I have to spend the next 3 WEEKS at home with an IV drip. I guess they want to be as certain as they can that I have no infection around the internal device that could migrate into the brain, so it is good that they are treating it but I am bowled over by how seriously they are about it. For the record, I feel perfectly normal -- no pain or anything.

If you're in the neighborhood of the UW Med Center, I'm in Room 4256.

Warren

Wow! Aren't you glad you went to get your hair cut? That's a scary story. We will be hoping and praying for a successful outcome. How will this affect your Summer plans?

Glad that they caught this early. Sorry to hear about being laid up for 3 weeks, but we do want to keep you around here, Warren. Take care, heal fast, we're sending good wishes your way.

Lori suggested that we do Alaska in July and Lake Powell in September, and then Lake Superior next year. Too soon to tell.

Thanks for the good wishes!
