I only have two shipping options for those in Canada.
USPS Priority Mail International
Additional cost: $13.50 ($6.00 already paid, total shipping cost is $19.50)
This is the only way I can ship with tracking, insured and prompt delivery. It's also the only way I can ship and be covered by PayPal's seller protection policy. I'm not totally concerned about that last item, but there is risk on my end shipping any other way.
USPS First Class Mail International
This method costs less than $1 more than the $6 already paid, so I'd just eat the additional cost.
There are several problems with this method:
- Adding tracking/delivery confirmation bumps the price to almost the same as Priority Mail International.
- Adding insurance to cover loss (common for this shipping method) bumps the price to almost the same as Priority Mail International
- It will take a loooong time, based on reports I've read online (3 weeks is a likely minimum.)
- I need to make a trip to the post office and stand in line (Priority International can be purchased online and picked up at my house)
So, it's probably clear which method I prefer. However, if a buyer wants to go the First Class International route - I'll do it. However, it needs to be clear that all the risk in doing so lies with the buyer. If it doesn't show up - I can't be held responsible, and can't offer a refund.
I'll get an email out to all the Canucks with shipping options, but since we've got a few more days - if any of you have other thoughts, speak up now. I've had a few of you give me US shipping addresses, but that's obviously not an option for everyone. And as mentioned before, I can definitely get burgees to any upcoming C-Brat gathering. And lastly...if this is too much hassle/cost for any of our pals to the north, a refund will be promptly provided - don't feel badly asking for one, we'll definitely sell your incoming burgee down the road. _________________ Will, C-Brat Nerd |

You're in the second batch of the orders - scheduled to arrive to me next week, and I'll ship out next day. You ordered on 12/10...cutoff for first batch was 12/9.

Hi Bill,
Thanks for the detailed response about shipping problems to Canada. I didn't mean to take up so much of your time. I am quite happy for you not to ship to me, hold on to it until a gathering. I will be at the Friday Harbor and Pender gatherings. I have waited nearly 62 years for this burgee, another couple of months will not hurt me

Hi Pat,
Looking forward to catching up with you guys as well, and my mate Baxter. Perhaps we can get a night in Comox together? One possibility is the Pender gathering. If you are heading north through the Gulf Islands it is less than 4 hours from Nanaimo to Comox. You could overnight in Comox and then we could go together the next day to Pender. Another option may be to call into Comox after finishing up North before heading South. Either way, looking forward to seeing you. Friday Harbor is coming up.

Hi Bill. I sent you a PM the other day. Not sure if it went through. It was just a thought that for any of the Brats in the Victoria area if you wanted to ship just to my address and as I am all over town every day I could drop them off. One package and one shipping charge to me and I would split and collect the freight from the other pirates. Mike is away right now but Monica thought it was a good idea. Your thoughts and any others ??

The final batch of burgees has just been shipped out to me. Assuming they arrive as scheduled, I expect to get them all shipped out by middle of next week. |

Ari,
Thanks for showing your burgee. Today I mounted that same flag staff as yours (I think), to my bow rail [mine is the Taylor Made model 971]. The rings on the staff are too snug to install them into the flag directly. I mounted fishing rod swivels clips as a test, to the rings and then to the burgee, but the luff of the burgee does not draw tight. Another solution I though of was to use wire ties between the rings to the burgee, but of course, they would have to be removed (cut) and new ones installed each time I get underway. What fastener did you use between the flagstaff rings and the burgee?
Best regards,
