Sorry about this - - if it works out, great. If not, then we'll meet up at Cathlament.
Problem is:
March 17 is St. Patrick's Day! We have a longstanding corn beef dinner with good friends. (note surname, below)
If Saturday could work that would be great, but I'm not expecting the whole world to revolve around me (don't I wish).
Your current plans are probably realistic, but watch where you plan on traveling. If no nearby St P celebrations, no problem. If yes, you might be in for more traffic/parking issues than you're expecting.

Sounds like great fun! Count us in if we can work with the date -- we're in the middle of nowhere, so always enjoy going somewhere
Is it March 24 yet???? |

Iggy, is 24 hours long enough to recoup from St Patty's? how about the 18th.
I'm going to be off line for a few days, do feel free to take this idea wherever it may go. _________________ Ken

Yeah, that would work fine.
We don't really go crazy, but we do break out some of the Guinness. I appreciate the flexibility if it doesn't throw a monkey wrench into the works for others.

Saturday works best for us too...Steve works 4 10s, so he's not much up to doing something after work. Anyone picked a place? |

Hi All,
Saturday the 18th works for us, too. A couple weeks ago, we checked out the docks right around the Interstate Bridge to see where we could make a dinner destination. There are docks at each of the three hotels located there. By far the best dock is on the Washington side at the Inn at the Quay. It's a well maintained public dock. We could dock there and there a lots of restuarant opportunities within walking distance along the water front, one right there at the hotel. That would probably be my choice, but we're open to other suggestions.
Another option would be to find a dock somewhere in the North Portland Harbor where we could tie up and walk up to a restaurant in Jantzen Beach. I'm not aware of any, but that doesn't mean we can't. There are lot's of restaurant opportunities there, too.
Let me know if you like the idea and I'll put up a list of the options.

Okay, I'm a little slow. It sounds like were NOT looking for someplace to cruise to. Just a place to meet, which is also good for us. Some of our favorite places in Vancouver are:
Gustov's in on 164th Street (Our Favorite!)
Spaghetti Factory on Mill Plain (Good food, good prices)
Beaches on the waterfront (Excellent food, excellent service, expensive but worth it)
McMenamins next to Beaches. (less expensive, food and service is ho hum, beer good!)
Each of these places have good seating for groups.

Do I have to wear a blue blazer? I think I can dig out a clean blue T-shirt. _________________ Terry, Ann & Chloe

Joes' crab shack? anybody ever been there? http://www.joescrabshack.com/pages/menu.html
It looks like it would be an interesting place. What say the 18th, 1800 hrs at the crab shack or McMenimens Or Beaches, they all seem to be in about the same Vancouver waterfront area....who's in? I'll see about getting a reservation this week once we have an idea of the numbers. We've never eaten at any of these joints but it sounds like the blue blazer would be the thing for Beaches with the beer stained T shirt be appropriate for the Crab shack
location subject to change with notice, objects in mirror may appear larger, offer not valid in some states |

Hi All,
I've been to the Crab Shack once and wasn't impressed. I felt like I was in a great big garage sale. Who Song and Larry's is still there, but isn't as good as it used to be (IMHO).
My vote would be Beaches or McMineman's. Beaches is a Fabulous reastaurant and, no, blue blazers are not needed. Come as you are. The wait staff wear shorts and polo shirts. The food is great, the service is outstanding and, best of all, it smells like the beach!!
McMineman's is good, too, but not as much variety on the menu and I have experienced longer waits for our orders. Either one would be a really good place for a C-Dory gathering, though.
Check out both their websites below. They both have menus so you can see what you're getting into:
http://www.beachesrestaurantandbar.com/menus.htm
http://www.mcmenamins.com/index.php?loc=33
One other thing to note. Beaches takes reservations McMenamin's doesn't. |

Okay, McMenamin's is out. We would prefer not to go to Who Song's or Crab Shack but will come if that's what everyone decides. Another good option is Stanford's at Jantzen Beach. They do take reservations and do have room for a group. Here is Stanford's website: http://www.stanfords.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=content.display&pageID=123 They specialize in the art of wood fire grilling. Smells wonderful! (Can you tell that how a restaurant smells is important to me? )
Some other options are:
Pacific Grill at the Red Lion Inn at the Quay
Black Angus Steak House (Just off I-5 at Mill Plain)
That's about all I can think of on this side of town. Most of the good resaurants are on the east side or downtown Portland. My choice would be Beaches or Stanford's. |

I'm sure glad you know something about the restraunts around here. Stanfords may be more user friendly for folks coming from the south + it's close to BoatersWorld
Uncle Otto's, whadda ya think? |
