We spent three days there in late Spring with thoughts of moving. Nice little yacht club at the John Wayne Marina, reasonable slip fees. Most folks trailer their boats. Housing is still reasonable and the town is fairly convenient (Home Depot and Costco). Bit hard to get to but I like that. The Sequim rain shadow is real and it really matters where you live in town. Waterfront is not cheap. There are lots of things to watch out for with water related properties. Very kicked back town, folks from California need a year to wind down. Feel free to call, we really took a good look and I still am following some houses on Zillow. Any chance you can get a transfer to St John in the USVI? We'll go with you!
PS: No state income tax, property taxes are not that bad, and the politics are not too far out of line

Great place. Several c brats live there and it is some great cruising. We've visited several times and there is a laid back, small town feel with some of the driest available Washington state climate. John Wayne is a nice marina. Couple of nice marine parks nearby and a run out to Neah Bay is close if up you fish. Port Townsend is close if maritime (wooden boat) is of interest. We've met very friendly folks there. George.

If my company offered me a transfer to Sequim, I'd take it in a heart beat.

Some years back, Squim was voted one of the best places to retire by one of those travel mags.

Aye.

Doesn't Sequim get more sunny days than most of Western WA because of its location behind the mountains?

Yes, it's in the "rain shadow" of the Olympic Mountains/Peninsula.

IFIRC, it gets 17 inches of rain a year!

Each mile you go back toward the mountains, the annual rainfall goes up by one inch! (Remembered from my travel there for a sailing regatta in 1995.)

Harvey, Roger, and others live there. Rick and Jon live in nearby Port Angeles. Bill (dNag) lives over in Freshwater Bay. We have at least 20 C-D's in the area!

Nice, low key, town and setting. Full of ex-Californians that otherwise couldn't deal with the rain, clouds, dampness, etc. of the PNW.

Formula: Take your C-Dory and by a house on the golf course and join the Sequim Bay Yacht Club at the John Wayne Marina on Sequim Bay. Life is (can be) good! Wink Grow old while being happy! Cool

Joe. Teeth Thumbs Up

It's pronounced "Sequim", not as in "See quim", but rather "Ska wim", as in swim. Wink

Lotta place names in WA which challenge the tongue. Click on Washington here for a shot at pronunciation. Sequim is at the top of the heap, I think.

The old duster knows and loves Sequim. Sequim High graduate in 1937. Born in Port Angeles 1920. Family in Sequim area since 1893. Great fishing area and easy boating to get to the fish. Of course DANAG will probably already have caught the big one.

Do it! You won't be sorry. Dusty

There's gonna be a nice home on the market soon in Freshwater Bay...it even comes with a nice C-Brat logo on top, and room for a "real" one inside... Mr. Green

Plenty of us here would be glad to show you around.

I always thought Pysht was much harder to pronounce than Sequim! Laughing

Joe, usually 10-15" of rain. Less this year.

Pure and simple, a person would have to be crazy not to want to live in Sequim! Take the damn transfer, wherever you live now does not even begin to compare!

On edit: Sedro Woolley or Sequim? Really now! Unless proximity to Seattle matters, and I cannot think of a single reason it should, this is a no-brainer. Or unless you really like rain, of course!
