Greg -

I looked over the pictures you posted (six photos starting here) of the water tank install in your v-berth. Pretty slick! Good spot for it. How about some detail on the tank and pump you used?

Thnaks,

Mike

The tank is a 20 gallon polyethylene one and I purchased it online at West Marine, They shipped it free of charge to even Alaska at the time. Also got the 90 degree fitting kit for another 20. $ My first time to use it was this weekend, and I am way pleased with it.
The pump was the lowest priced one (80.$) at the store

stock # 8050-204-033, 12 VDC, 1.6 gph, 30 psi switch.

it's way fast and powerfull for just sink use, that's all I ever need it for.

Thanks, Greg -

I have seen those pumps comparably priced at the local marine store, so I reckon I'll get one. Our sink has the hand pump on the spigot, and it is slow and awkward. I think I'll leave it, and add another simple tube and valve to run the pumped water into the sink.

Did you put an inline filter in? Kay bought a filter made for RV's that I tapped into the suction line. It is pressure capable, so when I get the pump in I will put one on the pressure side. It really made a difference in the taste of the water. It's got some charcoal or something in it.

I sure like your installation ideas.

Mike

Oh I am big on filtering the water out of any tap! I had one that went on the faucet a while back but the pump system I had at the time was not up to snuff. I know this one would handle it though. I make out pretty well with the simple pitcher filters, like brita of better yet the PUR one. Another Costco goody! I really don't want an inline one because they stagnate if left to sit for spells.

On my 22 cruiser, I have a $20. plastic pump with the on/off switch behind the cabnet door. Push on the door with your knee and then you have two hands to wash!
Works for meeeeeeeee! Doug B.

OK. I kicked all those old pix out and put in the new and final water tank design. I'll be back with the link soon.

Thanks Greg, for the photos. Like I said in the Pub, she looks great, fits great, is a great idea, and great workmanship.

That pump you installed looks pretty much like the one I put in my freshwater system last winter (ShureFlo?). I just had my first problem with it the other day. Mine is a pressure demand, and I leave the power swith on whenever the cabin disconnect is on. That way, all Kay has to do is open the valve to get the water to run. Anyhow, the fool thing took to letting the pressure bleed off back down the suction line and would cycle every few seconds for a quick burst. I took the hoses off of it and let it run dry for a short while. That seems to have solved the trouble. There must have been something stuck in the check valve keeping it from sealing off.

Again, nice work.

Well thankyou thankyou Wink yup I busted my butt getting all that nice work to, Oh shute mon, it brings it own rewards we both know. Glad you mentioned the problem you had with yours, I'll remember and try that cure. I remember back a few years ago we had a motor home that did that.
OH: I think it is that brand.
