To TyBoo Mike or DaNag Bill,
I think Rick meant to ask one of you to set-up the sign-up page for the August gathering in ME.
Thanks! _________________ Moxieabs on WIDGET |

Have a good cruise, eastsiders. |

Ooh! Bad Pun!
But it is the first Maine Gathering this year. And three boats have already said they'll come, so maybe it is the main one.
Sorry, about the name error, Ken, Mike & Bill.

Wish I could be there, you guys will miss the Snoqualmie beer! Have a great time! Been in Maine once, a long time ago, passing through on my way to visit relatives in Nova Scotia. Have to get back there one of these days...

Sorry, folks - got this on the calendar, but somehow the signup sheet request slipped through the cracks.
Here's a link to it, and I've also modified the original post in this thread to contain a link to it. _________________ Will, C-Brat Nerd |

Thanks Bill,
I hope we can show a photo with as many C-Dorys rafted in Maine as the feature photo.

Hi, You Maine and Down East Folks,
Looking forward to reports of your Down East activities.
While on the subject, have any of you been keeping up with the activities of Linda Greenlaw? I heard a while back that she dumped Swordfishing, to do some lobstering out of Isle de Haute.
I later heard that she got bored with that, and wanted to go back to Long-Lining for Swordfish again. Did she ever get captain of another Swordboat?
She's a real hero of mine, and my best friend back in South Jersey has the sister boat to hers, a 41 footer built in Novia Scotia.
Love to follow you Down Easters, since we used to drive through Maine and take the ferry (Digby to St. Johns or vice versa) up ultimately into Nova Scotia.
Anything you need for your Down East Cruise, just let me know!

Hi Ken,
Yeah, Linda Greenlaw's books and fishing experiences are something. Some of her writing reminds me of Mark Twain, in that it's what she doesn't say that cracks you up.
Her 3rd book has just been released. I haven't read it yet to see if it discusses going back to swordfishing.

Thoughts on The 2004 Maine Gathering
It was the Best of Gatherings. It was the Worst of Gatherings. (Apology to Mr. Dickens)
Best:
• Three C-Dory Crews and boats played together for 3 days. (Widget, Crescent Girl, & Hunky dory)
• Running white water in the Upper Hells Gate of the Sasanoa River.
• Rafting for lunch in the Oven’s Mouth
Worst:
• Saturday - Fog, Rain, Fog, Rain, Fog, Rain.
• Being socked in at Boothbay Harbor, where there are a gazillion Gift Shops, and spouses with VISA cards.
• Marina berth under a bar with a band that played until 1:30 AM
Best:
• Sunday – Glorious sunny day for cruising the Mid Coast Maine Rivers & Islands with a maritime history back to the early 1600’s.
• Lobster, Lobster Rolls, Lobster salads
• Having to walk by the Antique stores in Wiscasset because we had Ice Cream cones
Worst:
• The world’s worst Fish Chowder in a restaurant named “Chowder House”
• Rafts of Rock weed, and Lobster Buoys every where ( No Auto Pilots here)
Best:
• Having Eggs Benedict in a restaurant over looking 3 C-Dories
• Mid Coast Maine, home of the Bumpah Stickah “ Life is too short to have an Ugly Boat ”
• Sunday’s weather was so good & continuing, that I couldn’t resist cruising Casco Bay until Wednesday PM.

Awright!!! More Bests than Worsts!
Sometimes antiques and gifts get in the way of the west coast gatherings, too. They do, however, serve to help get the spouses and their Visas interested in the next one.
Good to hear that you enjoyed the best parts so much, and that you all had a safe cruise. Thank you for the lighthearted and enlightening recap. _________________ TyBoo Mike

TyBoo/DaNag,
I've got some photos of the "best and worst" of the Maine gathering if I could have an album created. Thanks |

Hi New England Group. I had hoped to join you on this gathering, but had a conflict. To make up for it we made our first trip during this week over to Portsmouth and out to Smuttynose Island. I hope part of what you did last weekend was to plan for the next gathering.
Dave, and the still unnamed boat. NH |
