For those of you that use a 9.9 hp kicker with your main. Tell me about your fuel economy at different rpms on a C-Dory 25 Cruiser. Suzuki in 2008 has a new 9.9 hp with power tilt and trim, remote steering and 20" or 25" shaft. I have a 150 4-stroke Suzuki as a main engine. Thanks for the info on fuel economy for this 150 and thanks for the "www.boattest.com" link. _________________ Marlene and Dave Mason

Generally gas engines get 14 hp per gallon an hour. You will be only using 6 to 7 hp to push the CD at 5 knots--and that will burn 1/2 gallon an hour. If you slow down to trolling speeds, you may use far less. If you keep the speed down, you should bet 10 miles a gallon with 9.9 hp. _________________ Bob Austin

Dave - Fuel consumption from a 9.9 Four stroke is minimal. I really do not notice the level of the tanks lower in 4-5 hours of trolling at 1.7mph to 2.6mph when on the main tanks. I have yet to establish a gallons per hour figure. I can vouch for the claim that the 9.9s are stingy with the fuel however.
