Hello, I am a new member and my husband and I joined this group to find out the good and bad of the 22 and 25 C-Dory's. We are on the East Coast. Any recommendations for dealers and deals? |

Well howdy, and welcome! Feel free to leave your names here - 'tis a friendly place and we're all on a first name basis...
There's tons of info on this site that will answer most any question you have. Click on the Forums link to view a particular category of discussions, or use the Search feature to find something of interest anywhere on the site. Oh, and don't forget the photo albums - we've got tons of pictures of members' boats.
Still, here's the condensed answer to your question.
Pros: Economical to operate, easy to tow, very seaworthy, well built, good lookin', great community of owners, excellent factory support, excellent resale value.
Cons: They don't go fast, particularly in the rougher stuff.
As far as dealers go, I'll let the East Coast folks chime in with their opinions. If you are thinking used, you probably won't find any 25's, as they've only been made for the last couple years (with the exception of a handful of earlier boats.)
Good luck on your quest, and fire away with any more questions! _________________

Welcome,
I own an older 22' C-Dory.
The first time I noticed the C-Dory was in a magazine in 1990. I fell in love with her for the following reasons.
1. A cruising boat that I can stand up in, sleep in, eat in, that can be towed by an Explorer Scout.
2. A boat with a cabin to keep me out of the sun.
3. With my new 75HP 4 stroke Yamaha, the boat is economical in boat terms. (Try about 4 to 5 Nautical miles per gallon.
4. I park my boat on a trailer in the winter in my side yard.
5. With the addition of a wallas stove, I will be able extend my cruising until late fall, and start in early spring. With the stove, I can launch her in the winter when the weather allows her.
6. On long trips, I can elect to do a lot of my travelling over the roads and launch her in the area I wish to cruise.
6. While cruising, I can leave her in shallow water and avoid expensive Mooring fees.
7. In my boat, the Angler Model, I have a six foot cockpit which is covered with a canvas cover and clear sides. I can take it down during good weather, leave it up in bad weather.
These are just a very few reasons to own a C-Dory.
Two other reasons. Not to expensive to buy. People who own them are great people.

Ditto to all of the above benefits. The only dealer on the east coast is Cutter Marine in Essex, MD (near Baltimore). _________________ Tom on Otter |

What they said......last week our boat was a water front vacation cottage in the San Juans....today, we're off to the coast where it will serve as our fishing lodge....The 22 footer is big enough to get the job done but the extra room in a 25 footer would sure be nice.....but...then.....the extra gas and beefier tow rig and extra payment wouldn't be so nice. _________________ Ken

Don't make a $10,000.00 mistake there is another dealer on the east coast . Three Rivers marine in Crystal River Florida. It might be worth calling Don (sales mtg.) at that location. 352-563-5510 _________________ ARBOMAN on Life Savor
