ok now for the stupid questions. I programed my nuber in last year and have no idea what it is today. how do I figure it out? also do I have to program another boats number in before I request their positon or can I just send out a request with the radio? I would like to use this feature on the radio more butjust have not sat down and figured it all out yet. _________________ Thomas J Elliott

Way to go Tom. You lost your nuber. I don't know how you figure it out, but I doubt this is the appropriate forum for it. Maybe Oprah has a website? If you Google nuber, you get about 605,000 hits, so it must be out there somewhere. _________________ TyBoo Mike

Sorry Tom - not a whole bunch sorry, but a little. Ever since you cleaned the concrete from under your fingernails and tucked in your shirt you haven't been as much fun on here. Just trying to bring you back.
Besides, I don't know the answers to your questions but will sure read them when someone does. Interesting stuff. |

To find out your number (or nuber) simply push the DSC button next time your out on the water. Then ask the Coast Guard what it is when they show up.
(Sorry - TyBoo started it.)
Cheers,

Tom,
I'll be kind to you. If you got if from Boat US you can go to the website and have them e-mail it back to you.
If you got the international version from the FCC it will be easier to change your name Social Security # and start all over again.

My MMSI number will be displayed on my radio if I press the menu button on my Icom 504 radio and follow the prompts. You have to access the menu to enter another person's mmsi #. The number needs to be entered into the radio you are calling/polling for this feature to work. You also have to have the recipients mmsi number entered into your radio log. PM me if you have any questions I have been studying dsc for a little while and have used it some. It is a great tool.

Gene, merv thank you both. i have to find out what I did with the book for the radio and see what I can get out of it. I did get the number from boat us. so I will try that. I do think that this couold be a great tool. Heres a tip that I use to target your fish. My radar will track 10 targets at once. I will track the local guides or top fishiers that I know while we are in the same area. When they get a fish on I will place a way point over their boat on the screen so I know where a possible school is. |

I have the Standard Horizon radio / Chartplotter combination. With mine I can go into Radio Settings / DSC Settings on the menu and then it shows the number. |

Ok I have my number 338039873. I was just re-reading the manual and It covered everything but how another boat will appear on my chart plotter screen. My raymarine 54 radio get the gps signal from the plotter. So Iam sure that the sharing goes both ways. So what does a the symbol look like on the chart plotter screen? |
