When we were in the Sea of Cortez we had water leaking in through the anchor locker and flowing down the chines and accumulating in the aft part of the cabin. When Jammin is planing water shoots up the drain whole faster than it goes out. The bottom of the locker is calked instead of fiberglassed.

After talking to Gene the shop foreman in Kent, I installed a deckplate aft under the V-berth. This area was full of the water that haden't leaked out the fresh water hose hole. Maybe 12 gallons or so.

The first sign of this problem was damp carpeting in the forward cabin.

Annoying and avoidable.

Dennis

Dennis-
I know how annoying it can be to walk around in the cabin on a wet floor. From the factory the drain hole was an inch above the bottom of the locker. I had to raise the floor of the anchor locker so water will drain out the locker drain. The locker is not finished inside and the water would leak into the v-berth and out into the cabin.
I also had to re-seal the screw holes where the holes were drilled all the way through the hull for the brass stem guard at the bow.

dennis,
this is my first post on this or any web for that
matter but after reading yours and fishtales comments
about leaky rode lockers i was inspired to speak up.
i recently spent the better part of 2 weeks with my head
stuck halfway into the access hatches of our rode locker.
the bulkhead that seperates the berth from the anchor
locker wasn't sealed on the inside and the drain was no
where near the bottom.
the tunnel on the tomcat actually tends to force water into
the rode locker with the help of the cover that hides the
drain. once the water was in the locker it would drain back
into the hulls on either side.
i filled and leveled the bottom of the locker to the drain
and applied 2 layers of gel coat. the access hatches were
only big enough for half my head and 1 hand. it was a major
pain.
wow! do i feel better, do you think any one at the factory is
paying attention?

i've enjoyed reading the posts and looking at the pictures on
the site. the information that can be gleaned from all of the
forums is priceless.
