Best laid plans. I drove up to Lake Roosevelt in Northeast Washington
state and got to the boat launch with no problems. Put my money in the
envelope for launch, no problems. Got in the boat and went to open the
cabin door and could not get it to open. Problem was the track was full
of glass. I got in and found the windshield in a thousand pieces all over
the inside of the boat. Total bummer but got it all cleaned up and with
some duct tape and some foam I filled the hole. Spent that day and
most of the next on the water but with rain heading out way I decided
to head back and cover things up. I see Diamond Sea Glaze glass
on the net and will check with them and C Ranger to find out the best
way to go for replacement. How did it happen? Not a clue but got to
thinking of those cutouts on that C Dory heading south from Alaska
and what a good idea it was. I believe for towing in the future that
may be a good idea.
Lake Roosevelt is nice and well run by the National Park Service. Its
worth checking out. My chart plotter did not work there but did not
expect it to. The parks foldout map was my only chart. I will be back
but not today.. Bob Heselberg Eatonville Wa

Bob,

Probably took a rock while being trailered. We had a padded sunbrella cover built for our windshild to prevent this from occuring. You can see what it looks like in our photo album. It's one of the lasts photos captioned "new tow rig".

Sure love those little tugs.

That's a bummer about the glass.

Nice boat and tow rig Thumbs Up Is the cover attached with snaps. If so how many ? What did you use behind the canvas to protect the windows ?

Thanks Jeff,

There are 3 snaps each side. Canvas Riggers on Whidbey Island did our canvas but any canvas shop should be able to do the job. Don't remember cost because we had the whole package done at once. The windshild side is vinyl and it has about 3/4 inch of padding. We use it for privacy too and if you pop the bottom 4 snaps (leaving the top ones on each side) you can open the center window for some air.

P.S. The truck now has a Leer canopy with a bedrug. I had a remote installed for the tailgate and canopy door that works with the truck remote. One click and the driver door unlocks two clicks and and everything else unlocks. To lock everything just one click with the truck remote. No fumbling with keys or wondering if everything is locked. The bedrug is padded and saves the knees.

My boat has a early frame color and new boats have real color and
not flat black so I had to order a windshield. Factory took care of that
for me and also put in a order for a glass cover at the same time.
I had to do a special order for the forest green color. I think the cover
will be part of a package in the future. While at the factory saw a new
red 21 and a couple of blue 25's plus one all covered up heading for
Japan. Nice bow thruster it had. So till the new glass comes I will
put in a piece of plexiglass. Bob Heselberg Eatonville Wa
