|
|
I took my boat out for the first time this past week and the depth sounder worked when I first put the boat in and about an hour later it went to 00.0 and flashes that over and over. I used the trouble guide in the manual with no success. Does anyone have one of these units? This boat came equiped from Cutter's Marine. I'm hoping someone else might have run into this same kind of error and can tell me how they solved the problem.
Thanks,

I found Uniden's online manual at this link:
http://www.uniden.com/pdf/QT206om.pdf
Here's what it says (sorry for the lack of formatting):
Symptom Possible Reasons Suggested Solutions
“0.0" is flashing in the
display window.
Unit is not receiving an
echo which could be
caused by a variety of
reasons:
Sensitivity Adjustment
was turned too much in
one direction, actually
squelching out the echo.
Transducer is defective,
therefore not transmitting
or receiving echoes.
Installation of the transducer
is incorrect,
therefore not allowing a
pulse to be transmitted
or received.
Unit is defective and
needs to be returned to
the factory for repair.
Correctly adjust the
Sensitivity Control so
that the numbers in the
display window start to
appear and are reading
the correct depth.
Try a “known good”
transducer hooked up to
the gauge and see if the
depth appears in the
window. It is important
to “wet” the transducer
immediately before immersing
in the water.
Make sure that the
transducer is installed
per the instructions in
this manual. Insidethe-
Hull Transducers
must be properly
bonded and attached to
the hull as described in
the section on Insidethe-
Hull mounting, or
must be properly installed
by the boat
manufacturer if the
equipment was installed
at the boat factory.
If all of the above tests
resulted in “0.0" remaining
in the window, return
the unit for repair. |

I had a similar problem with my Garmen 498. It was caused buy the sonar "Range" setting being set to 20 feet. Setting it to Auto rectified the problem.

Ihad the same problem with the same sounder and it took a new transducer to fix it. Don't know of a way to trouble shoot the transducer other than swapping it out for a new one. Good luck! _________________ Moxieabs on WIDGET |

Mark... You are not sitting on the bottom waiting for the tide to come back in and lift you are you??
Sorry man... I could not resist. Life had been too serious on my side for a day or two. It is a pain when brand new toys do not work correctly. Not sure of your trailer set up, but you may want to check on how the transducer and the bunk boards/rollers line up or "crash" when putting the boat on the trailer. Sometimes small one or two in adjustments are needed on the trailers to fit the boat, but that sometimes does not happen, until we destroy a transducer.
Good Luck and keep us posted to the solution.

Thanks for all the input. I probably will order another transducer.
