Greetings,
I'm fairly new to this forum and hope this is where I would post a question regarding a lowrance, model lcx-104c. The question is do they make a electronic chip that will slide in to the unit I have that will give me charts of B.C., Ucluelet area to be exact. I intend to fish up there this year and I'm having trouble finding charts of the area.
Any ideas on the where to go would be appreciated, I live in the Bothell area and have tried several stores with little success looking for paper charts.
Thank you,
Dan McNally |

Yes, The lowrance LCX 104 chart plotter is excellent. I have a couple and find them very reliable and fairly easy to use. (Garmin is slightly easier, but there are trade offs). There are the Lowrance Nauticpath charts for the US (basically NOAA charts) Navionics chip XL3 #913 covers all of Vancouver Island and Puget Sound. I would get this chip, because you may want it in the future, and it is a better value for the $$.
However the LCX 104 is a non current model. I don't see a lot of differences, but there are some. I have one which is about 4 years old (3300) and one a year old (LCX 26). The newer units are faster on the redraw time (refresh rate of the chart as the boat moves) and have brighter screens. I believe that the 104 is NMEA 2000, but not positive.
Unless there is a really fantastic buy, consider getting the latest model.
We use on line, like Boat Fix or BOE. Both of these are reliable and can get the units within days. _________________ Bob Austin
