Anyone up for a little cruising on Lake Pend Oreille in mid August? Then maybe, after a cruise on the Lake, more cruising on Flathead or Coer d'Alene?

I am surprised there are no takers here...but I get two weeks, and we are only using one for the Gulf Islands, so this is a definite possibility - and a heck of a lot closer for us than some other places...a one day tow from Fall City I think...for us, the dates that would work best would be closer to an August 11 late arrival and August 19 late departure. With my birthday inbetween!

Bill and El, We would be a definate "maybe" for this one. When we ordered the TomCat with a trailer, it was for moments like these. Besides, the tow to Idaho might be just what I need to convince the bride that we need a new Power Stroke F-250! We'll keep thinking about it. See you in Bellingham. Roger _________________ Roger

We'd love to do this but it depends on the state of our tow vehicles. We won't be able to commit for a while. Lets talk at Bellingham. _________________ Patti and Barry

From Spokane, this seems like pretty much a no-brainer! The dates are pretty much critical for us...

We have a family gathering in Colorado until the 12th and it will take a few days to drive up to WA and then tow the boat over the mountains, so we can't make it any earlier than the 15th -- but Pat, if you want to head over earlier (like the 11th), Great -- we'll join you ove there and stay until you're ready to leave -- when is the B'Day? Don't want to miss that.
How do these dates look to the others? |

A defininite maybe for the Lori Ann. Lori has family in Montana so that would be a good fit.

B-day is August 16th - not telling the year! (Patty was born the same year, and I don't care about myself, but it would not be polite to reveal her age! Hair coloring does wonders for us both, we refer to it as "getting young"!)

Great!! This will be a B'Day celebration for us all to join in -- let's see -- Jack Benny held at age 59 for about 40 years didn't he? So does 59 sound reasonable? What a great excuse for a Gathering. Looks like Ron/Kathy and Warren will be there -- and maybe Roger and others -- Hooray!!! We have a party in the offing. |

El & Bill – I am fairly sure we can make it. Terri has a good friend in Post Falls she has been wanting to visit, so this will give us a chance to do both.
Looking forward to seeing you in Bellingham.
Patty & Barry –you are right about Jack Benny’s age. I tried it for a while at age 33 but after 15 or so years, people quit believing me.

39 is a perfect age for Pat to hang on to -- thanks to Patty and Barry, your cake will have fewer candles and maybe we won't need a special Forest Service fire permit -- although we'd better alert the Navy base that there might be some suspicious activity out on the lake.
Dave -- looking forward to seeing you guys out there. The party will really be rocking. |

OK, change of plans...it now looks like we travel on Saturday, August 18th, arriving late, and would stay until Sunday, August 26, leaving early. So no birthday cake or candles needed! Besides, holding at 59 sounds great - I doubt anyone would believe holding at 39!

Made a couple of phone calls about launch facilities and trailer parking on Lake Pend Oreille. Got all the info from the Sand Point Chamber of Commerce, very helpful! Here is what I found out.
Sand Point City Park - there is a launch, but there is not much parking, and it is signed for no overnight parking. The Parks and Rec person suggested we could probably find street parking, and they actually don't enforce the no overnight parking. Sounds a little dicey to me.
Farragut State Park - launch and ample parking, $4 a day (we would have to get a separate day pass for each day we would be out) or $25 for an annual pass.
Hope Marine Services, launch but no long term parking.
Beyond Hope Resort (great name!) - $7.00 launch, $2.50 a day parking. This one looks like the winner to me... |
