Set up for Inside Passage Cruising and Monterey Bay Salmon Fishing, this boat has been reliable, efficient, and professionally maintained. I have modified the interior to have a forward facing passenger seat that swivels forward and aft and removed the icebox from under the pilot seat. I still have all the pieces to convert back to the table and settee and the icebox.

We are located in the Santa Cruz Harbor (G36). She is turn key and was set up for a 7th trip to Southeast this summer until I bought the last Allweather 8 meter for this summer's cruise.

Hi Shawn,
Is your new boat the same Allweather I read about from an add on this sight? What do you mean by the last one? What I read seemed to indicate that they are only built when someone orders one.
It looked like a very interesting boat. Very safe and low cost of operation. What is your trip you are planning?
Your C-Dory should sell quickly.

The Allweather Boats were custom built by a guy named Homer Hughes in Ferndale, WA, and I think he retired...so Shawn very well could have bought the very last one. These are incredible boats but S...L...O...W. Here is the link to the Allweather Boats web site.

Hello Pat and Steve,
I never heard of these boats until I read one of your posts Pat. Homer told me that he'll make no more due to health. I bought the gray hulled demo (hull 22 of 32) seen on his website. We spent an entire day with Homer in Ferndale WA and I was sold. Like a C-Dory, these are practical spartan boats that regular folks can operate. I've had two unsolicited offers on the boat since I bought it. I haven't even put it in the water yet, its at the Allweather shop in Ferndale.
I've been going to Southeast AK each summer since I bought my C-Dory off this web site. We are educators so we have time and while I'll miss the speed, I'll also miss every fuel dock in BC and AK until Juneau. Part of my contract is to spend a week with Homer in early June at his Ferndale shop to go over all the mechanicals, paint the bottom, install electronics, and perform sea trails. June 16th, Tonie, the dog, and I will head north from Ferndale, I'd like to go to Yukatat this year.

Hi Shawn,
Thanks for the reply. Please keep us updated on how the Allweather works out for you. If gas doubles in price we may all be going SLOW.

Shawn,
We thought for sure we would see you with an Eaglecraft!!
Your new boat looks very interesting. Reminds me of the old double enders my dad used to have as fishing boats up in Southeast AK.

Shawn
Congratulations on the Allweather purchase. Its the only boat we too would have preferred over what we have. Especially after retirement when speed really isn't a factor at all. Would also love to make the trip to Yakutat, but can't see doing it in our CD 22. We thoroughly checked a Allweather out in Juneau in 2000. Loved it but the CD 22 won out due to budget.
We are still planing on a Mirror Harbor visist along with many other coves on the Chichagof Inland Coast. Thanks again for your information on this area.
Have no doubts the Tonie O will go quick.

Hello all,
Thanks for the interest! I have accepted an offer on my C-Dory.
Tonie picks the boats, like the C-Dory, she likes the Allweather and it's canoe stern. I love those Daigle Eaglecraft but they are not inexpensive and it would burn more fuel than a C-Dory. I'll share my experience and comparisions as the summer unfolds. This website provided me with a wealth of information and ideas and even lead me to the next boat.
Thanks,
Shawn |
