Where can I buy some Starboard? What thickness do I need to use to mount a transducer on the stern of the boat?

I only need a small piece, but all I can find are large sheets at places like BoatUS. I need to get a depth sounder on this puppy so I can stay off the bottom in the rivers, small bays, and lakes.

Chuck, take a look at the plastic lumber at Home Depot. I think it's the same stuff, Tyboo Mike swears by it, think he built his convertible seat out of it. I bought some moulding and they had some 1x4 stuff in lengths like 6ft or so. Lots cheaper than sheet stuff.

Chuck, I have used both. The stuff from Home Depot is not as dense as Starboard but it will be fine. I cut a triangular piece that is glued onto the top the the deck just under the end of the anchor when it is resting on the forward deck and it has done fine in all kinds of water and weather. It comes in standard size board lengths however.
Give me a measurement and an address and I will send you a small piece. Sounds like you only need something 6 Inches by 4 inches.

go down to your neighborhood kitchen nick-nack store and buy a small cutting board. They make those white, dense, plasticy stuff, cutting boards that work great for mounting stuff. They won't hold a screw as well as Starboard but a little 3M 4200 will fix that.

No problem Chuck. For the rest of you out there.. there was no box. I just put Chucks name and address and the stamps on a piece of board and sent it.

Here in Portland i go to TAP Plastics. They usually have scraps around too if I need. Go to tapplastics.com to find one in your area.
