I have had a problem with my Trollmaster dropping from run to idle when I key the VHF radio and when I honk the horn on 3rd Byte.

I talked to the top gun at Trollmaster and this is what I found out. The proximity of the VHF antenna will cause that problem and it occurs frequently when keying the mike. As far as the horn causing the problem, this is the 2nd time that has occurred in the last 10 years. He had no clue as to why tapping a tune on the horn would effect the Trollmaster

NOW THE GOOD NEWS! Trollmaster will be out with a brand new digital unit to replace the analog next year (January). This will solve the problems mentioned above. In addition it's an overall performance upgrade as well as eliminating a number of past problems.

The new digital Trollmasters will consist of 3 models. The Standard, Pro, and a Pro Plus. The Standard and Pro will be basically similar in function and operation to the current analog model with the exception that the new digitals control head will be in a new housing, will not have any knob protrusions and will be a keypad unit. The Pro Plus will, in addition, have
a much greater and more accurate range of adjustment. I believe he said 10X more than the Pro model.

Bottom line is that anyone rigging a boat or anticipating buying a Trollmaster would be well advised to wait for the new models.

We had the Pro Plus on our last boat. Absolutely essential if you have a kicker. Would buy another in a heartbeat.
