For those of you in the La Conner, Washington area, the Christmas Boat Parade is Saturday evening 12/9/06.
Although, we will not be on the water with "Sea Shift", our daughter Jessica will be on a 40' Bayliner Bodego (the vessel's name is "2 Escape") with other members of the Arlington High School Jazz Choir ("Jazzmine") singing their hearts out for your enjoyment.
Last year, "Jazzmine", placed 4th in national competition in Monterey, California (out of approx. 1500 initial entries).
Unfortunately, I have to work and will be unable to attend this event. _________________ Dave S.

Dave,
It looks like this is one time it would be better if your boat was appropriately named "Bee Shift" eh?
Sure the performances will be great and sorry you'll miss them, but I know those in your area appreciate your being there!

Tom, I know you're real innovative. Just get a reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal long extension cord that is waterproof and don't make too many turns.
Or you could use a generator, or an inverter but that would be cheating. Look out for all the other extension cords in the water...;
Sorry I'm gonna miss SBS this year, enjoyed meetin you and Susan for the 2006 version (glub!).

Tom, I've been unable to obtain an exact start time for the boat parade. I did locate in "google" where last year it was from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
I do know that the several of the Jazzmine members (J included) are going up earlier in the day to cruise the "2 Escape" down to La Conner from Anacortes.
As for wiring Christmas tree lights to a boat, ask David on Anna Leigh. He wired lights up for his 22' several years ago and did not have a generator on board. |

I found 12volt christmass lights on the net but they want a lot and they are not very long. i will go with a small inverter at west marine for 35 bucks and still use the tree lights which i have lots of. cheaper and I needed a inverter anyway. |

I bought some 12v lights years ago for one of our sailboats. They were expensive and weak. Perhaps they've gotten better in the last decade, but we've had much better lighting with the standard outdoor Christmas lights. _________________ Jim & Joan

I always used the cheap inverter and 110 volt lights. I bought a "prowatt" 250 years ago, like 15 years ago, and it is still working fine. I think I got it at Worst Marine. |

Hey Dave... Truly sorry you are going to miss your daughter's gig. But...maybe her and her jazz folks could do a little gig on Friday night at the hotel for those C-Brats staying at the Hawthorn..... or... ask them to join some of us on the cruise of the locks and dam in Seattle Friday at 1pm prior to the Friday night gig.... or.... just send em over for the whole day/evening... It is a blast.. no pun intended. _________________ Patrick Byrd "Byrdman"

Thanks for the idea Patrick, however they will be in school classes Friday and then all day Saturday they will be participating in the Bellevue Jazz festival.
Tom, I checked further on the start time of the parade and apparently they'll be lining up at 6PM so I presume they will start at 6:30 PM. |
