22' Cruiser Passengers

Hello,

How many passengers would be comfortable for a day in a 22' Cruiser? No camping, just general daytime boating and watersports. For example, would four adults and two children be comfortable? Six adults? Do you use some type of additional seating in the cockpit? Thanks for any information.

I had four adults and six kids for a 1 1/2 hour ride to an Island. It works and the 22 only sat one inch lower in the water to my surprise. You do need to balance the load a little but totaly doable. Two folding beach chairs in the cock pit helped out and one sitting behind the driver on the counter top. Kids in the V-birth or cock pit (with PFDs on if out side of the cabin).

It is tight on the 22 dinette seats for more than one adult. We have no problem with as many as necessary in the cockpit--and two adults and two children on folding chairs, plastic chairs or ice chests do fine. (throw in a couple of dogs for the mix!)

the short answer is "it depends".

Whats the weather like? If you have to be inside due to cold weather then 4 is the max I would want. If you have a fully enclosed canvas back then you could increase that to 6 folks. if its warm out then 6 for a cruise is fine but dinner with out docking is out.

What are you doing? 3 is the most I like for fisihng or crabbing but we have done it with 4. Two have to stay in the cab because I hate stepping on people and get testy really fast. Taking kids out for a swim 6 kids and you is no problem. they are going to be in the water most of the time and tired on the way back.

how far are you going? if its more then a two hours between bathrooms then you are better off by your self or with family only.

The rated weight capacity really should be taken into consideration. While it is possible to load the boat well beyond that and get away with it, consider the possibilty of an accident. If your loaded beyond the weight capacity, don't expect insurance to cover anything (including your liability for the passengers). For both a safe and comfortable day, I think 4 adults is about the max.

Long day trip on Yellowstone Lake, in Yellowstone National Park with Jo-Lee, my parents who are in their 80's, my sister and I. That's 5. Temperature between low twenty's and mid thirties, snow off and on throughout the day. Off the boat several times to walk around and explore. No complaints, everyone seemed to have a wonderful day. Parents very Hardy. Dad spent most of the day in the cockpit. He's a very outdoor person.

Dinette into a couch and the wallas heater running.

Hey Rob.

I see you are in Franklin TN.

My brother Mike keeps his CD22 in the water at his house in Mt. Juliet TN on Old Hickory Lake, about 45 minutes from you via the 840 loop.

Hook up with him. He can take you out. I also have a 18 Angler, and live in Clarksville.

I think 4 adults and 2 children are a bit much...unless the kids are going to sit out front on the foward deck... or, a couple of chairs in the cockpit... but, each to their own... part of having fun is loading the boats up.
