Researching purchasing a windlass. I am leaning towards the Horizon 600GD, one other unit I was looking at was the Lewmar Pro. Has anyone had any experience with this unit. Also at the present time I have a Bruce anchor with half inch double braided nylon. From my research they recommend the 3 strand rope. Will the braided not work? Thanks very much. _________________ DeanO |

The double braid has an outer cover and an inner. more linnear core. In a windlass, the cover slides around on the core, causing it to bunch up and cause jam-ups. A firm three strand is the answer, such and New England Ropes Premium 1/2" nylon rope.
