Thanks for the re-check on the math... Was going fast and attempting to get to Church on time......and.... the numbers should have jumped at me anyway....

Casey, You and the others who share the real data for extended cruising are for sure doing the rest of us a great service. I for one love the information, and you can only "guest-i-mate" when in the house planing. Your numbers are great. I could almost smell the fresh air in some of your readings, and it was great to watch you slip out of the "world" mode, and into enjoying life in the Alaskan waters, loving life on your boat.

I have to admit.... A friend asked me to join them in a golf outting about 2 weeks ago...and all told the green fees, cart fees, a few lost balls.... it cost me about $100 for about 4.5 hours. As I was handing my AE cross counter to the young lady.... I could not help but think....WOW...that is two whole tank fulls on C-Byrd.....and the many...many hours of enjoyment I get in comparison.

So....that could explain why I had to search a bit for my golf shoes...

Casey thanks again for shareing. And.. send me a disk with your pics please. I can not wait to match the pics with the readings...

DORA-JEAN: Thanks for sure at catching that. I have made the corrections and posted the new one...for folks who care or would want to use it. But...for extended use, I'd cut-n-paste the lower numbers back up on the same line as the green original data numbers... Moving them down made it possible to simply print this trip on one piece of paper with wide columns....and all data columns. Having it all on one line is not as "pretty"...but much more functional for tracking data each time you go out...if ya want. I tended to log this data each time I added fuel....which allowed me to simply enjoy my boat.....

Casey brings up a great point. It is all about time and distance...and cost in this post..... Time saved is dollars spent. A great point to keep in mind when spendind extended time on the waters. I love crusing at the 6 knots speed...in fact, often I did this with the auto pilot set, while cooking, eating breakfast/lunch &/or dinner, and while cleaning up a bit. This (on calm waters) allowed me to take advantage of those "cheap miles" and at the same time reduced the number of "higher cost" miles. Casey's example of traveling at 6 instead of the avg 10 would have put him traveling about 5 hours and 45 minutes a day, rather than the 3 and 1/2 hours a day. You have to also realize the enjoyment of just kicking back and not traveling at all too for sure.....and just listening, smelling, and looking at the area traveled. That stuff is priceless.

Interesting numbers!

On average speed.

I have found that on our 22 cruiser we average about 11 knots overall for our travels. If I remember correctly, El and Bill also average about 10-11 knots.

Yep -- our average over 23,000 nautical miles is just a shade under 10 knots.

Hey Bill and El !!! Welcome back to the land world!! Great to see you making a post again.

So tell me... I feel sure you and El have cruised around the 6 knots speed with just one of the 40 hp Hondas turning the screw... What type of mileage for the CD22 in the Trawler mode?

Great to see you back on... Sherryl and I will be moving to Clarksville, TN area soon....going back to my home waters of the Cumberland River System.

Dave...now ya got me wondering about wandering.... just how far of a trip is it to circle the world? Geography was never my gig... but... it is interesting on how things change in time.

And I guess that 23,000 natical miles is about x 1.116 = 26,680....or with Bill and El's aproximate.....27,000 miles.... Now that is a boat ride!!

Pat - The earth is approximately 25,000 miles around at the widest part (the equator) or about 21,725 nautical miles.
