Well, goodness... I just got home from work, and really needed the pick-me-up. 22 days to go, and the days seem to be getting longer. I know there are other sailors on here who would understand what I am about to say (and I don't mean this badly)... there was a time when I would look at that image and think: "Damn, look at the wake we have to deal with!" My transfomation must be nearly complete, because now I'm thinking: "That looks so peaceful!" Wink

Sunrise; my absolute favorite time of the day. Over the transom of a C-Dory; nice. Thanks, flapbreaker, a great treat to come home to.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Here's a sunset with our sweet catboat (the tri is gone, but it stays)...

Not a C-Dory, but we're dancing to a live Jimmy Buffett concert on Radio Margaritaville... takes my mind to a happy place. Wink Hope this is OK here.

Nice boat, Jim. I know what you mean. My brother-in-law calls sailboats channel cloggers; we used to call power boats stink pots.

Both shots are lovely, as are both boats, each in her own way.

Thanks, Norma; I've seen the catboat in your photos... very pretty. That sweet catboat of ours is what led me to understand that we could be very content on a smaller boat for some real traveling. The downsizing is almost done and we're ready to start the "C-Dory traveling"! Very Happy

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Well, since you asked... our main boat had been a 27 foot trimaran; that's 27'x19' of deck space, plus the cabin and aft cabin. My wife wanted the SunCat as an additional boat that would be easy to trailer. Actually, the discussion was: "Honey, let's get another boat." And I ranted and raved that there was no way I was getting rid of my trimaran, blah, blah, blah. She then said, "Are you done? I meant let's get another boat - keep the tri in the water and get something smaller to trailer." Oh, well that's different. Wink

I never imagined I'd want anything besides the tri. But, we've had so much fun with the SunCat the last couple years, easily towing her all over. And concurrently with that, we built a second (MUCH smaller house in Texas), and downsized from a 40' motorcoach to a Leisure Travel Class B, since we were doing less winter traveling.

I was actually focused on getting another bigger sailboat for our retirement, a MaineCat 30 (30'x18') or a Geimin (34'x14'). And then I discovered the C-Dory and this place... and I was fascinated with the premise, but leary of not having quiet wind propulsion. Joan, again, got things moving by making the arrangements to go to the SBS while I was on the phone with Scott from the factory asking about the boat. Seeing the boat in person, and getting out on the water with Tom and Susan (in, for us, inclimate weather) cinched our decision.

So... smaller house (right on the water), smaller RV, and now a smaller boat (not including the SunCat, 'cause that's going to be my fun daysailor)... and looking foward to some BIG adventures on the C-dory!

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Usta was...

... nearly 80' going down the road.

Now...

and soon to be: CD-25 being pulled by a pickup!

Great Photo's !!! Jim... what is the brand/model of the RV pulling the tri? Looks neat. Yea...C-Dory folks are something. I do recall meetng yall at the SBS.... and you have to admit... not everyone would just throw folks on their boat and take off....much less show you how well she takes sand bar groundings too..!! Mr. Green

Sorry Tom... I could not pass that up..

Hi Patrick,
The coach in the photo with the tri is an American Dream, part of the American Coach family. A most comfortable way to go down the road. But, when sailing became more important to us, the 80' length going down the road became more work than fun... hard to find a campground, most ramps too tight for the coach, even stopping for lunch was tough to find a parking spot. We wound up with Joan driving the Tahoe as our chase vehicle, the cat and me in the coach. That got old pretty quick... the cat would not take her turn driving. Wink

Now, we just want to be in the water more than on the road.

Best wishes,
Jim

Jim, Nice F27. A friend of mine had one for several yrs. It's what I learned to sail on. I could never be happy on a monohull after that. I was bummed when he sold it. He's been rebuilding an F24 that should be on the water soon. Nice way to get my wind driven fix.

You're just basing that after seeing the photo of the scary guy with the signs on the opening page! Wink

And my apologies if any of my posts here were C-Dory OT. "The wait" gets less, but the time seems to expand. I really need a boat fix.

Jim, thanks for the explanation, I believe I already knew about your tri but just didn't add 2 and 2 (or is that 2 +1) -- whatever. Boats are sure addicting aren't they. Reminds me of my F-31 ('96), best sailboat I've ever owned (6 yrs), and like Norm said, spoils you to ever sail a mono again. I equally love my C-Dory though, just different reasons -- relaxing, more comfortable in weather, more enjoyable for all aboard. Thanks again for the recap, brings back memories of my own.
