First a big thanks to all who helped try to figure out why my anchor light would not work at Lopez. I attempted to get a USCG Aux Vessel Safety Inspection at the gathering, but the anchor light would not work. After going through all the troubleshooting possible on the dock I still had no idea why it wasn't working. Les looked it over and said he would suspect a faulty ground. When I got home, I checked everything again and finally decided to act on Les' hunch. Up under the eyebrow there was a factory connection where the light base pigtail is crimped onto the boat wiring which goes to the switch and fuse. The voltage on the base pins was measuring 11.2V. I cut the crimp connector on the ground wire off and crimped on a new one. The pins then read 12.4V and the light now works. The old crimp was a heat shrink butt connector. I cut the insulation off and one of the wire just fell out. I guess if there is a lesson here it is: after every crimp give the wires a good tug to make sure they are properly crimped.

Great Ken, Glad you got it figured out. Vessel Safety Checks sometimes come up with stuff that is out of date, not working, etc.
Hope to bring Anna Leigh over to Spokane sometime when we visit our daughter. Be great to have a cruise on Lake Coeur d' L.

Glad to hear you got it fixed. also Davids post sounds like the beginings
of the GREAT INLAND EMPIRE C-BRAT GET TOGETHER. Better take the
bull by the horns. Flathead is nice but adds another 5 hrs hauling for the
coasters sounds like a next year to do list.

Good going, Ken. Looks like the safety inspection served its intended purpose! Now you have a functioning anchor light, whch might have gone unnoticed for a while but for this inspection!

David and John,
I second the motion of a Coeur D'Alene Lake cruise. David let me know when you plan to come over and we'll see if dates can be worked out. Although Lake CDA is beautiful, I think Preist Lake and Pend Oreille are just as nice if not better.
