With so many new folks joining the pub and cruising season rapidly approaching, I thought this would be a timely topic.
I remember the first few get-to-gethers we went to, you kind of wonder what kind of psyco-axe murdering folks you'll meet. You hear so many horror stories about people that meet via the internet, makes you a bit uneasy. Here's what I discovered. C-Dories are a funky boat, one that doesn't appeal to many people (to slow, not glittery & glitzy enough, doesn't come equiped with a 50000 watt stereo system, everybody else drives a NorthThunderRiverAlumaMegaJet) the attributes that attract us to these boats are about the same as the owners (practible, versitile, rugged, sensible). I found that many of the owners where just regular folks like us , it was like running into a pack of old friends.
The gatherings themselves are rather low key, unstructured events generally, show up, tie up and begin the hand shaking process then go in search of that boat addition or modification idea to add to your allready long list of boat projects. It's a fun, friendly bunch, eager to share boat notes.
That about right folks?
P.S. the bad part about the gatherings is the snoring...I aint mentioning any names _________________ Ken

Great post BC. Yes, it is truly is a great bunch of folks and they keep coming. I think the C-Dory boat and the owners of them really says alot about one's personality. Lets see hear... down to earth, laid back, easy going, always willing to help, drink a few brews on the dock, talk about anything, stand in the rain when there is shelter, joke around, handshakes and hugs, pack cruising, eat from everyones stash, floating in an isolated cove looking at nothing and everything. Yeah, I love it.

What to expect? Well let's see... good food, good company, good conversation, lotsa fun, good food, learn new stuff, make new friends, good food, seeing cool things that others have done to their C-Dory's, good food, getting to know new boating waters, ...... did I mention good food?

Larry,
Is the picture a thousand words about the snoring or the good food? _________________ Tim and Judy w/o the Lynn Marie |

Now I appreciate that speech Ken! I have to say though... I think that C-Dorys are very appealing to most boat-peep, up here. Heck even my young whipper-snapper snowmachinin-buddy wants one "like mine"now, and he's out in the Sound, rippin-around on a jet-ski most the time! |

All true - and EXPECT a Saturday night potluck! And if we are anywhere near crabs, clams or mussels, and occasionally a fish or two, expect an extra special treat! And there is frequently a case or two, possibly a keg, from a certain microbrewery, if we are within 150 miles of Snoqualmie...

And if Patty's there, you'll be standing in line for her recipe -- no matter what chow she rustles up. _________________ El and Bill (former live-aboards)
