We found out today that our Corsair trimaran sailboat has gone to a new home. You know that old line about "the two happiest days"? Yeah, I don't feel that way. But, the Corsair needed to make some room for the new C-Dory. The tri was the last duck to fall in line... we are SO ready to pick up our 25 and start this "next chapter."
Today was a "snow day" for us - we had over 2 FEET of snow! Joan and I were the only ones who made it into work. I took care of a few production things and checked out the C-Brats forum the rest of the day.
So, in the last couple weeks, the house is sold, the commercial property is sold, the business is sold... and now the sailboat (we will be keeping the SunCat catboat for daysailing). The Great Loop is calling our names! Keep posting C-Brat brothers and sisters; we have 70 days of work left. Your posts keep us focused!
Best wishes,
Jim B. _________________ Jim & Joan

Jim,
Congrats on your plans coming together!
I can relate in two ways. I also felt sorrow and the flood of memories coming back when we sold Spirit, our sailboat that was my escape for 18 years. Also, I retired last July and love every minute of it.
I hope we meet for the Bahamas cruise next year and be sure to give us a shout when you head through Lake Erie on the Great Loop.
Best regards
Nick

I will be looking forward to it, Nick. I am SO grateful to the many (former and current) sailors here for their encouragement this past year; sure made this decision process easier. We are pumped! |

We are all excited for you Jim! My first boating experience was racing a 72 foot sailboat Dance II out of Chicago on Lake Michigan. Did three Chi-Mackinac races. Then took a job as a deckhand on a 93-foot sailboat Odyssey. Took it from Chicago and lakes through the St. Lawrence and down the coast to Florida. Glorious trip, and I was getting 200 bucks a week to do it! Then "real jobs" and just occasional stints as a stand in hand. Here on the Potomac, sailing didn't really appeal -- too much tacking when sailing on a river! Love the C-Dory though. Someday (far in future as yet) I hope we'll be able to do some real cruising. Until then, getting a lot of vicarious pleasure from following the travels of our C-Brat brethren!
All the best, _________________ Tom on Otter |

Jim glad to hear that everything is falling into place. we are looking at 10 to 20 more years of work before we can join you retired folks, but plan to live vicariously thru you and others. Watch the thin water _________________ Thomas J Elliott
