Hi All,

I hope to be taking delivery of my new 22' Cruiser in early May. I understand that my Honda outboard will require a 10 hour service, but what takes place during the 20 hour service that I've heard about ?? Shocked

Is this for the new engine? Trailer? The boat itself?

As my nearest C-Dory dealer is located 6 1/2 hours away, I'm going to have to plan to take a week long vacation and burn up these initial 10 and 20 hours, Laughing so that I can swing by the dealer on my way home for this mystery 20 hour service.

On a lighter note, I understand that I may be eligible for another military move during the summer of 2007. No doubt I'll be requesting a return to Fort Lewis, WA. Laughing Laughing

Thanks a bunch,

Gary R.

Dusty,

I will gladly do so. And, well before that, I'm sure to be at the 07 SBS.

I don't know if any 10 hour service but if you have Honda's they need a 20 hour service consiting of an oil change and to check the valve's or something like that.

Some manufacturers have a 10 hour [ Yamaha] and some have a 20 hour[Suzuki] , but what it is is the initial break in service . Oil and filter change , lower unit check and gear oil change , and some motors have valve clearance checks involved . Its not critical that it be done at exactly 10 or 20 hours , we reccomend 20 .A good dealer will check throttle and shift cable adjustments, nuts and bolt torque etc... After that its 80 hours of care free boating till the next visit which is the 100 hour service . If you are running Hondas with carbs use plenty of fuel stabilizer as our most common problem with Honda is gummed up carbs . I hope this helps .

Thanks Marc,

That is of great help. As I have a honda outboard, this means I can run the boat for 20 hours during this vacation as opposed to 10... and just catch the dealer on my way home.

Very nice indeed. This is why I love our site so much. With a simple question and answer, my vacation time has increased. Laughing
