I read that El & Bill on the Halcyon had a Overboard Kit. I was wondering if any one else has one and what is in it. |

We have always carried what we call a "Ditch" bag... as in, if you have to ditch the boat, this stuff will be important. It contains a first aid kit, flares, signal mirror, whistle, strobe, some line, Leatherman, hand-held VHF, waterproof matches, and probably some more stuff that I'm forgetting right now.
We have always kept this near the companionway in our sailboats. If you need any of those things (without the need to ditch), they are in one place. HTH
Best wishes,

Also have a ditch bag for many years. It is useful for the reasons Jim said. I also take a smaller version with me when I go out on (some) other boats (just call it a big lunch). Of course unless I founder right next to an island I would freeze to death before any of that stuff was very useful. Need to invent a portable instant gumby suit. _________________ Mark S

Having spent most of my time on the SF Bay, I've been told by seemingly dozens of old barnacles that a ditch bag is Mr. Murphy's bastard son. _________________ MITCH, ALEXIS, JOHN-PAUL, COOPER |
