Hi
I wonder what type of fuel economy cd 25 owners are getting? I can't seem to get much better than 2.5 miles a gallon once I get up on plain.
I have the honda 135 and a 3 blade stainless prop thats 14 1/2 by 15. I'm thinking about buying an adjustable pro-pulse and experimenting to see if I can increase mpg. It's starting to take some of the fun away whenever I fill up.

Try a search on "fuel and economy and 135". Click the posts button instead of topics. There's other information out there. Your earlier post came up too.

Bill and Chris,

Gas mileage also depends on how your outfitted (weight), optimal use of your trim tabs, cruise rpms of your engine, and speed over the water among other things. All of those factors go into the 'efficiency' equation that directly affects gas mileage. On good days I get 3.0-3.25+ mpg, but my boat is also slightly lighter than other CD25's (no AC power panel/equipment, no water heater, no holding tank or heavier toilet, no shower -- I like simplicity..). I have twin 80 Yami's, stock 13.5"x15 props, which by rights twins should be less fuel efficient than a single.

I believe there's some discussion already in here on the subject, do a search and see what you come up with. Good luck.

Steve

I have a CD25 with the Honda 150. It's loaded fairly heavily. Aux. helm station, 15 kicker on a bracket, swim platform, full electronics, four batteries, marine head, fridge, camper canvas, Wallas, windlass, radar arch w/radar, etc.

I'm running a 14.5"D X 15pitch

A medium-fast cruise (under 20 mph)puts me about where you are on mpg.
There is a sweet spot with the 150 where I do better, however.

Once on plane, I back the throttle down until the engine goes onto the low speed cam lobes and changes the induction. That occurs at 4000 rpm. Under 4000, (3950 +or-)the engine is optimized for low speed. With full trim tabs it planes nicely at 10-12 knots SOG and gives (statute)mpg in the mid 3's by my rough calculations.

That's not very fast, but the boat seems very happy there, handles chop and wakes well, etc. Raises a helluva wake, though. Shocked

(I just edited this to show what speed I was speaking of as a "medium-fast" cruise)

After about 3500 miles, some of it cruising, some of it back and forth to our island in the St Lawrence, the Cosmic C (Honda 130) has averaged 2.6 mpg. I hear all these people talking about 3+ mpg, and I'd sure like to match this, but I don't know how. The max I've seen with a totally unloaded boat is about 2.8 mpg.
