After reading about Hurricane Idalia, I called both Dr. Bob in Pensacola and Marc Grove in Apalachicola. The hurricane was way east of Dr. Bob. Although it slammed Steinhatchee, Cedar Key, and Tarpon Springs, three of our favorite spots on our 2017 Great Loop, the hurricane spared Apalachicola. Good news indeed for our friends! _________________

Good to hear from Pat and Patty yesterday. Thank you for the concern. We had sunshine, a light breeze and a slightly lower temperature. The only effect we noticed was a storm surge of about a foot and a half. We say our prayers for those in the direct way of this storm. We have driven the back roads in the sparsely populated which this storm ran thru--a lot of it is "old Florida". We saw on TV that residents of Cedar Key is back working on their places so some could reopen for this Labor Day weekend. Many other areas, will be a year before back to normal--if ever.
I had talked with Marc Grove shortly before the storm hit, and he was ready for. it. Good to hear no major damage.
If this had hit directly on Tampa there would have been far more damage. _________________ Bob Austin
