Hammerhead,
You're right, there is room for an inflatable under the tall arch on Valkyrie. that's one reason why we decided to go that way.

journey on's radar arch is not only high, but mounted up front, so I can stuff everything up top, and not get cooked by the radar.
As to interference from whatever is up on top, not a problem. I'd keep metal out of the view of the radar, but our kayak and inflatable are made of plastic, and radar looks right through that. Isn't the radome plastic? Aircraft have fiberglass for radomes. In addition, radar works by sending out a swept pulse (chirp,) then going into the receive mode (window) to listen for the return. The window is timed to correspond to the range set on the radar. The boat's radar has a minimum distance of 1/8 mile. So, the receive window should block anything out at a few feet. One does get clutter, but not from this range.
My question is: who has an easy way to lift an inflatable from water level to the top of the cabin, especially with the awning on?

Hammerhead, I saw Amigo on the rack at Twin Bridges on Saturday. Sure is a nice-looking boat. I'd say you got a winner. Hope the deal closes soon so you can go out and enjoy her.

Boris,
I haven't tried it yet, but others have posted the proper technique that seems to work.
Get on the foredeck and drag the inflatable onto the deck. It is much closer to the cabin top than it would be from the cockpit. Slide the inflatable onto the top from the foredeck and secure.

Thank you Boris and peter;
Once again answered my questions on the brat site. As far as an easy way to get the inflatable up topside, I fished on the OPtions out of Ixtapa Mexico and he had a nice little crane on the bow to lift his dingy onto his boat. I will see if I can find a picture to post here.
Rick says he picked up the Amigo and she is in Twin Falls now so we we hope to meet and close the deal around Winamucca if his bank would give him his titles and I just got a call from coastline financial and they were wondering if i had sent them the loan docs yet. tracked it via us post office and the have attempted 2 deliveries and now they can go to the post office and pick them up.
If not after 5 days they will return them to me
If thats the case I will just have to drain the savings and pay all cash.............that would not fit into my fishing and travel plans for the summer, oh and the wife might not like the limited funding that would be available when her and her mom get to Maui this Sat Oh but wait she has enough credit cards to charter the queen Mary, I better wait for my funding |
