Hey --

I have a Cape Cruiser (Venture) 26 - 2007 with twin Honda 90hp outboards.

Getting ready to launch this spring (Vermont, so there are definitely seasons.. ) - I discovered leading from the hydraulic motor on one engine.

Through a Honda shop, 'O' rings were replaced and things we re-packed.. BUT, a leak persists and, with dye, it seems confirmed that there is a crack in the housing of the unit.. which leaks a small amount of fluid during the down-cycle of the motor.

* Option suggested by the shop (good guy) is replace the full unit with Honda cert. part ($ 2,600.) -- OUCH.

I'm 'calling a friend' on this forum .. to see if others have inputs and options? Maybe there is a reputable 'rebuild' option? or some other way to approach this??

If the consensus is to just buy the full price part, etc.. Id appreciate that validation as well.

Thanks-- Jeff

Best solution is to replaced the cracked part. You may be able to find someone that can weld over the crack, but that could distort the cylinder.

Might depend on how much it leaks. You could decide just to live with it and carry fluid to top the system off as necessary.

Either the 5 star as suggested by Salmon Fisher, or e-bay has used units.
