Hey all, we just moved to a new marina this year and the pier is concrete. A habit I've picked up from my day-job aboard aluminum workboats is to clutch in while nosed up to the pier/barge/whatever to give me more control, especially when single-handing. This doesn't work so good with my 22' cruiser and a concrete pier. 😬 And I've already left a few gouges in my gelcoat!

Does anybody have recommendations for a good bow-fender that fits the 22's shape? I have a 2000 if that makes a difference.

I'll be curious to see these responses. Is there some way to mount it to the concrete? These might work:

Here you go. You can make your own--I would use a "core" of "Pool Noodles" (they can be obtained in different sizes and are cheap.)

Here some come premade by Talamex, they are available in two sizes: :

Talamex also makes the manila rope bow fenders, or you can make your own. Do a search on "making rope fenders".

there are several by Dan Fender

There are a number of videos which show how to make "bow Pudding and Fenders"

You can become very creative, and make your own version which will work for the C Dory. Actually I find "rope work" a lot of fun--you do have to have some good fids for the work. Also a manila line is much easier to work than Dacron. Duckworks has the manila available.

Here is a video about "The Fender Book". Well worth your time if you want to DIY.

Any suggestions on how to add some level of protection on a non-floating slip with finger piers and 3' tide variations?

There are all sorts of bumpers, pads, etc. that can be added to docks for scuff protection. What can be used will depend on the exact configuration of the dock structure and how your boat fits against it.

Also, plenty of inflatable fenders and such for protecting the boat. Get a 6' or 10' one and it would protect the front quadrant of a 22. Blow it up when you need it.

Some examples:

There are plenty of choices.
