From there you can enter the Erie Canal at Waterford, or continue up into Lake Champlain (but doing the Triangle Loop counterclockwise means fighting the St Lawrence Seaway current, up to 8 MPH at the Montreal non-navigable rapids, so it isn’t done).

I certainly hope this is still done as this is a dream trip for us (Lake Champlain to St Lawrence river to Quebec and return).

While the Lachine Rapids are not navigable, they are bypassed by two canals -- the St Lawrence Seaway on the Rive-Sud and the older Lachine Canal (restored and now run by Parks Canada) trhough old Montreal.

While reviewing my travel check list couldn't locate the key for my locking lug nuts on the trailer.
Searched the truck where it should have been no luck!
Emptied the boat on trailer looked at other places it could be -. no luck.
Repack boat.
YouTube ways to take locking lug nuts off.
Went to 3 stores to get right sockets for the job.
With air hammer chisel cut off protective rings
Pounded socket on to locking lug nuts and was able to take lugs off.

Whew now all I need to do to finish getting ready to begin trip East on Friday is buy 4 new lug bolts to replace ones I took off.

Another small hurtle taken care of.[/u]

I'm sure I will find them when I unpack the boat. They were/are in a case that there is no way I would have knowingly thrown away.

Made it to East Bridgewater Massachusetts. Truck ran well weather was okay. No major obstacles. A really great trip. Got about 9 and 1/2 miles per gallon with my Toyota Tundra.
We are safely stored at a CubeSmart. Currently beginning to prepare Foot Loose for the Great Loop.

I just completed figuring the major expenses for the trip out here.
Gas $1,365.25
Hotels $1,355.30
Tolls $78.25
Grand total
$2,799.80

No real issues.
Ran into severe rain as we were parking outside our hotel. The next day we got an early start to stay ahead of the weather. We pushed hard - got to East Bridgewater a day early and beat the weather.

WHEW ![/u]

I am on the Great Loop and three of the locks on the river are closed until October creating a back log of boats wanting to head South.

I would like to be able to trailer my 22 Ft C-Dory Cruiser around the closed locks.

Is there anyone in the area that could help me?

Portage from the Hammond Port Authority Boat Ramp.

To Heritage Harbor Marina, 421 Great Loop East Drive, Ottawa, Illinois, 61350.

It's about 85 miles one way.
I would pay 66 cents per mile, round trip (Government rate is 65.5) plus another $200 for their time.
