Tom (Avidmagnum) and Joyce Schulke, (CD-25 C-Otter crew) and Hontoon Hoot Hosts Of The Decade, recently completed the Great American Loop as friends and crew on a 45 ft Californian bought by Lee and Jan Murray (the former crew of the CD-25 Tully-B, and frequent Hoot attendees ). Both crews have been VERY well respected for many years by Hontoon Hoot veterans including us.
We don’t think you should be (sorry Lee), but if you are searching for a 45 ft Looper boat that Chief Engineer Tom Schulke approves of after eight months on it, contact him after they take care of a ‘few things’ needed to make it Perfect for The Next Loop (in the JAX area) if you don’t prefer a trailer boat.
A hearty congratulations is in order for these crewmembers!
Safe Travels to All!

Lee and Jan still own Tully B, and should be back at Hontoon (we hope). I agree that the Californian 45 which will be for sale shortly is a good boat. I had the opportunity to be aboard several times. One of which I went over the boat fairly thoroughly. Tom, Lee, Jan and Joyce have all added to the boats practical uses and gear. The boat should be ready to do another loop~! _________________ Bob Austin

Thanks for the kind words. The Californian was a great boat for our Great Loop adventure. Lots of room for two couples. With twin engines and bow thruster it is an easy handling boat. “Redemption” is ready to go on another loop or make someone a great live aboard home. We will be moving the boat up to Jacksonville Florida tomorrow to placed in a brokers hand for sale. Joyce and I spent yesterday starting to get our C-Dory 25 ready for winter travel. We did see a couple of C-Dory 22’s doing the Loop. A jet ski finished the trip this year. Many “ Loopers” do the 5400 or more mile trip all at once but some take multiple years. You can do it your oun way. The many people, places and experiences will never be forgotten. You see America in a whole new way. One of the highlights was getting together with other C-Brats on our Journey. _________________ Tom and Joyce Schulke
