Joanie & I are very saddened to hear of Rodger's passing. He was one of the many that we enjoyed visiting with at the CBGTs, and always got a kick out of talking with him, and hearing his trumpet. He will truly be missed, but also remembered. RIP Rodger!

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that Roger has died. I haven't checked into our great website since November 5th, when, oddly enough, I read a PM reply Roger had sent me.
In late October I had PM'd him to say that Pan-A-C'Ya Steve and I were at Wallace Island (Canadian Gulf Islands) a few weeks earlier and walked through the decrepit and well-traveled cabin with hundreds of hanging wooden pieces with crew and boat names, and dates visited. I told Roger that his colorful and detailed square wooden placard with an artistic C-Dory likeness was among the best of the bunch!

His reply that first Saturday this month: "I made it to Conover Cove in early fall but the water was a minus tide and I didn't get out of the boat. Glad to hear the carving was still looking good! I also made the one next to it for my cousin on Jesse James. It has an orca whale on it. Take care, and we will see you next spring.--Roger"

I'll miss Roger's character and the enthusiasm he brought to our gatherings. But I've got my potato pin on board, and his Wallace Island sign is long a reminder.

Pretty sure most of us have one or more potato pins! Now, who is going to play taps at Friday Harbor each evening?

Hi Brock. Thanks for sharing. Next May, at our annual C-Brats gathering, it would be nice to have a time of sharing and remembrance of what Roger meant to many of us at the Saturday evening potluck . He was a great guy and is dearly missed for sure. We will be searching for that wooden placard among the hundreds of others next time we are at Wallace Island. Gary

The service for Roger is Saturday. Was looking up that detail, when I came upon THIS: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ptm931cwrr3ib8d/Roger.mp4?dl=0

It's a slideshow of Roger. The opening pic is Roger on his C-Dory and another one later on. And of course - a trombone solo to boot.

Roger was great friend, I had just spent a couple of nights at his place as I attend a funeral for a man who was a mentor to me. I spent a couple of summers at Wayne's farm in Rupert Idaho. Roger was a cracious host though he did not know Wayne he let me go about my Business there.
I have sent Flowers and included CBrats on the card.
Harvey on Sleepy C stayed with me last night on his way to another celebration in Logan Utah, We had Dinner at Barley Browns in Baker City last night a place Roger frequented on his trips to Portland to visit his Children with Cheryl. I toasted him with a Coyote peak Beer.
I will be there at his services tomorrow.
