Not for sound proofing or condensation. Just for aesthetics. _________________ "Is there a 12 step program for people addicted to sailing? Yes, & the 13th step is called a C-Dory" Marc Grove

C-Dory and aesthetics in the same sentence just seems wrong somehow! _________________ Roger

Really, the definition: " a set of principles concerned with the nature and appreciation of beauty". IMO the C-Dory 22 is one of the most aesthetic power boats. It has classic lines and is a beautiful boat.
Is it also, for some owners, a practical boat? I hope so.

I painted my interior with Hy-Tech SC1000 and then Glidden satin paint from HD. The color is a very light sort of pastel green (I forget what it is called).
It was 3 coats of the SC1000 and 3 coats of the regular paint. Don't know how much it actually did to reduce the condensation.
However, it does make the interior much brighter than the factory beige and dk. gray speckle finish.
Between removing what I could, masking the rest, painting, and then restoring everything, probably took about 10 days overall (1 coat per day). I also did the inside of the cabinets in the main cabin and the v-berth compartments.
Overall, I think the effort was worth it. |

We painted it a lively yellow over top of the insulating paint primer. The artist wife just couldn't stand the "dried fish guts" look of the original paint. I'll redo with the same paint when I finish the interior of my hull extension project. |

Wow! looked at your album and that is an amazing project you have going on.
What paints did you use? Did you roll it on, brush it on? |

Finally got around to getting pictures of the interior color of my boat. These show the new color. 3 coats of SC#1000 and then 3 coats of Glidden paint from HD.

Thanks for starting this thread and for posting some pics. The admiral would like us to paint the interior as well!
Either that or buy a Ranger 23. _________________ Peter & Caryn

I repainted the interior on my TC24. For the walls and ceiling I used EzPoxy primer (1 coat) and then 3 coats of Hatteras Off White which was very close to the original base color. I mixed in quite a bit of the EZ Poxy flattening agent which they stopped producing unfortunately. It turned out really nicely and the flatness of the paint hides the imperfections and actually works well with the existing splatter/webbing. For the floor I used 2 part awlgrip in matterhorn white. I wanted a super tough floor paint that I could clean with solvents.
The best part of the project was watching hundreds of old screw holes disappear (after careful repair of every single one) |

The previous owner on our previous 22 painted both the exterior and the interior. After living with those results i would advise to pick a color not very different from the original as some chipping and scratching will happen and also be very careful with cleaning and priming to minimize the chipping and peeling. _________________ Raven 1983 22’ Classic, 2009-2020

Haven't noticed any chipping or peeling. I applied SC#1000 which is supposed to be insulating paint, and then painted over it with exterior latex. As a result the painted surface is slightly flexible. It doesn't chip. There are a couple of places where I made mods that damaged or changed the painted surface. Since I have some of the latex paint left, touch ups are easy when required. |
