Does anyone know the approximate weight difference? How much lighter would an alum trailer be for a 22? (single axle).. ?

The manufacturer sticker on my Al tandem trailer says it weighs 600#. I have no idea how accurate that number is.

I have a Pacific Tandem trailer with 2 long bunks and 2 short ones, and short side bunks. Kodiak SS brakes on all 4 wheels, and a single spare tire mounted to the winch post. The scaled weight on the empty trailer is right at 1100 pounds.

Harvey, Is your trailer galvanized?

I would strongly advise a tandem axle trailer if you are doing any serious trailering. Single axle trailers are generally short haul and yard type of trailers for the 22. I had a single axle trailer, which came with one of my 22' and it failed after several years use. The cost differential is not all that much.

The weight difference is several hundred pounds, and depends on both the build quality of both the aluminum frame and galvanized steel frame. The axles, bunks, winch etc are all the same.

Yes, my trailer is galvanized. Sorry I missed that. And it is not the one in the pix, but theay are near twins, only difference is the tandem vs single axel.

Totally agree, for towing more than just short hops to the marina, you will appreciate the tandem.

Our trailer is double axle for a 23 Venture Sport, but when we bought new, the weight difference was nearly 100 lbs. between an aluminum vs. galvanized in comparison with both being double axle. Our tow vehicle at the time (Dodge Dakota) was marginal on GVWR and so we went with aluminum. You may wish to compare different trailer manufacturers to find the exact difference in weight. Also, even with a 22 Cruiser or 23 Venture, going with electric over hydraulic brakes is quite nice and makes for a safer tow rig. We are very satisfied in going with a E Z Loader Trailer. http://www.ezloader.com/
