Hello everyone...this is my first post since buying my 22 Cruiser.
Question, has anyone viewed the YouTube videos that depict the correct engine height...many videos indicate that the AV plate needs to be just above the bottom of the boat. Could I please ask everyone what your engine height is? Is the AV plate of your engine just above the bottom on everyone's 22 cruiser?

First, congratulations on the boat!
I'm no expert, but I do know that with a Permatrim on an outboard you want engine height such that when on plane there is just the thinnest film of water running over the top of the Permatrim. I had to raise my engines a notch to achieve that. Doing so resulted in improved performance, control and fuel efficiency. I'm guessing more engines are mounted too low than are mounted too high. There are a lot of people around this place with a lot more experience and expertise than I have, and I'm sure you will get sound advice.
Welcome to the C-Brats. _________________ Bill, Formerly on NORO LIM

Thanks for your quick reply!
The C-Dory is a wonderful boat. It’s small enough to allow me to pull it with my 4L Tacoma as a matter of fact, I achieved 14 mpg pulling my 22Cruiser up to Virginia from Florida.
Now I need to find a dealer who can adjust the engine height to place that AV plate at the surface of the surface of the water at WOT. |

There are ways to move the motor, using the trim, some blocks under the motor skeg and the trailer attitude with the tongue jack. An "A" frame or engine hoist can also be used. I have used large oak trees to hoist engines, with a chain fall or come along. (Be very safety conscious!) _________________ Bob Austin

When I bought my used C-Dory my AV plate was below the bottom of the boat, it was mounted in the top hole I raised the engine two holes, what a difference in the performance of the boat. I used a movable engine hoist and a special eye bolt that screwed into the top of the engine. Hope this helps. |
