I couldn't find the thread that had the general discussion on excellent customer service so this is about my continued experience with Rodger's Marine in Portland Oregon

In February I commenced to update my electronics package on SleepyC. The original Raymarine MFD, Radar and Sounder were becoming slightly dated, and with thoughts of doing some cruising at a considerable distance from my home waters I did not want to get the opportunity to invest in a replacement system put in by strangers in a place I would probably never get back to, So . . . ,

I contacted Rodger’s Marine Electronics in Portland Oregon and began to set up the deal. They have done 99% of my electronics work on SleepyC. They have the knowledge, expertise and skill to do it and make it right. They have an electronics engineer to do the design and confirm it all fits and works together. Admittedly this is less of an issue now with NMEA 2k but I still have some of the older system in some places, and I still want it all to work. All equals, AIS inputs from 3 sources all to the MFD, Autopilot direction sensing, and GPS input from multiple sources, and AIS transponder that is both stand alone and output to the MFD. Most of that goes through a multiplexer. 3 VHF’s that share one speaker for both loud hailer and auto fog functions. And the 3 radios also share with the AIS tx for use on an antenna via a powered splitter. Yea, I know it’s a bunch, but I seem to sort of like double duplicite redundancy.

Rodger’s (specifically, Marty K and Marty B) have always been Johnny on the spot with answers when something doesn’t go right. In this case, I had been having some weird sounds emanating from the radar; a moaning, groaning almost growl. I had contacted Raymarine warranty, talked to their customer support manager, who directed me to a local Raymarine certified tech and he had done what they asked – send them some recordings. And still they wanted more recording, from closer, louder and clearer. I had complied and sent them to the RM Cert tech who sent them to Raymarine, and they wanted more, closer and louder. (Well it is hard to get much closer than 6 inches from the dome.) I mentioned that to Marty at Rodger’s on the phone one day. His response, was bring it down, and we will replace it. How soon can you get it here?

I had it down there the next Monday morning. In a couple of hours, I was out on the water with the tech, aligning the radar, and we were done. They also found why the AIS was not getting to the new MFD, and that was cured too, and all under their customer service and warranty program.

Yes it is a ways to go, but for that kind of service, it is worth every mile.

Excellent customer service. A knowledgeable group, from Engineer to installation. I have no problem recommending them for electronics purchase, install, service or repair.

It is important to share the good news when you get service like that! I have no doubt this new install will serve you for many years. Enjoy!
