Vessel Safety Inspections, Sequim Area

For those interested in getting their voluntary CG vessel safety inspection done before you actually get out to the launch ramp and the CGAux inspector sidles up to your boat just before you back down the ramp and asks, here’s an opportunity to disappoint him.

I have been doing my VSI checks, in the boat garage, at a time of my choosing, and with an amiable, friendly and knowledgeable USCG Vessel Safety Inspector that does house calls. He lives in Sequim, and has been doing my boat for about 8 years. He is comfortable on the C-Dory and is helpful in accomplishing the goal of getting your inspection sticker on the window -- saving getting stopped on the water for the same inspection, except then it is not voluntary and can result in “corrective paper”

If you are interested, please PM me and I will pass on the contact info. He will have the new 2022 stickers this month.

There used to be a CGAUX guy who lived down the block from my house. It was really convenient to get the inspection done in my driveway pretty much whenever I asked for one.

Unfortunately, he stopped doing it a couple of years ago.

That sticker in the window worked for us when the USCG was hitting up every vessel coming back into the Newport South Beach ramp last Summer. When the USCG officer saw the sticker in the window, he just passed on by w/o saying a word.

So far we have 13 boats signed-up for the USCG Vessel Safety Inspection happening in May at the annual C-Brats Friday Harbor Gathering. If attending the event, you may also wish to PM me for information and sign-up.

Thanks Harvey for this Boating Safety post.

If the fuel system on this unit is like those on the 1,000, 2,000 and 2,200, there is an adaptor top for the fuel tank which allows a remote fuel tank (Outboard motor type) of 3 to 6 gallons to be attached. No reason to "refuel" while running. This closed system continues to run while the remote tank has fuel in it.

The Rated continuous output of the Honda EU2000i generator is 1,600VA (13.33A @ 120VAC). The Maximum (30 minute limit) output is 2,000VA (16.66 A @ 120VAC).

I just got a call from Bob, the USCG Vessel Safety Inspector and he said he should have his 2022 stickers in hand in 2 weeks, so he is ready to start doing the inspections then.

Anyone interested, please PM me and I will forward his contact info to you.
