Howdy C-Brats. We just purchased a 22' 1988 Cruiser near Rio Vista, CA. Have been out 3-4 times and really love the boat! Super excited! No real questions yet. I don't see a lot of others in the SF Bay Area but excited to meet others and real excited to do some boat camping this summer! |

We are fairly new here too.
We have really appreciated the collective wisdom on this site!
We have been looking at going to the Delta later this year and Ro Vista seemed like a good spot to start/stop from. Any input on the boating in that area? |

Joecrony, Welcome to the C-BRATS. I trailered down to Rio Vista and launched there for a Delta Extravaganza trip a few years back. It is a nice little marina (Delta) and good access for either up river or down and to Golden Gate and SF area. The Delta was great, learned my boat could float in 4 or 5 feet of water, and I didn't have to pick up my feet, (Different for this deep water boater for sure.) I think it was Franks tract that I had to go over an underwater berm to get in, and it was only 2 feet over that little lump. Had a great time with Steve and Karen and then with the group on the tour also.
Go, Meet and enjoy, and consider coming up to the San Juans for the Friday Harbor CBGT in May.
Harvey

Boater Rob, one of the C-Brats in that area, Jim on Pounder, ran a gathering trip out of Rio Vista down to Frisco. I enjoyed the Sacramento River, and the marina at Rio Vista was a good place to launch out of. The river was somewhat flooded, so a lot of crap to dodge, but we still had a good time. Some day I hope to get back, but it's not on my routine places to go from Wisconsin. BTW, search on Annual Delta/Bay Extravaganza here on C-Brats to see several years worth of threads of those trips. They'd probably give you a lot of good info on doing the Delta out of Rio Vista; Colby |
